Minimum Qualifications

Education: SACS Requirements and Licensure Requirements for NC Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission must be met.  
 
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of teaching experience or practical job-related experience.
          
License(s) Required:  Must be credentialed through the State of North Carolina

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience in the community college system is preferred. 

Position Description

Under general supervision of the Associate Dean, the faculty member teaches assigned class loads and serves as faculty advisor according to the rules and procedures of the College. The faculty member will work at least 40 hours per week including instructing courses, maintaining posted office hours, evaluating student work, preparing for the courses, and fulfilling other duties as needed.  These positions may be nine (9) or twelve (12) months positions.

Coordinator stipend pay is an additional $2400.00 per school year.

Primary Duties

  •  Provides classroom and course management in a manner that is consistent with appropriate professional conduct and course goals and objectives
  • Assists students outside of scheduled class times as needed
  • Furnishes all data and reports according to deadlines set by the Instructional Services Division using appropriate forms and formats
  • Develops and maintains syllabi following a syllabus template
  • Maintains accurate class rosters
  • Submits final grades each semester as specified on Academic Calendar
  • Submit Early Alerts and Administrative Withdrawals as outlined in MCC procedures
  • Attends faculty and unit meetings and workshops as scheduled
  • Notifies Associate Dean of any absences or alterations in the class schedule in advance and in writing, if possible 
  • Carries out special assignments at the request of the Division Associate Dean
  • Participates in comprehensive and annual program reviews
  • Participates in graduation, priority registration and final registration, and is available for student orientations as requested
  • Participates in student recruitment and retention activities
  • Has knowledge of requirements of working with students with disabilities and coordinating services, as required by appropriate college staff and community agencies
     
    PROGRAM COORDINATOR Duties (With Associate Dean Oversight)
  • Develop new courses in field as required
  • Make textbook/equipment and instructional materials selections
  • Oversee and certify annual equipment inventory
  • Serve as academic advisor for program
  • Collaborate with Associate Dean in program development, certificates and pathways
  • Assist in determining budget needs for program and recommends purchases of equipment and supplies when appropriate; orders supplies when appropriate
  • Participate in the development and implementation of articulation agreements
  • Chair annual advisory committee meetings.  Elicit and apply employer input and feedback concerning program goals. 
  • Mentor adjunct faculty 
  • Prepares and submits a semester instructional schedule including the assignment of instructors for specific classes
  • Complete annual program reviews
  • Oversee the recruitment, screening, selection and hiring process of adjuncts
  • Supervise and mentor adjuncts/instructors withing the department
  • Supervise and oversee training through the NC Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission for BLET program
