Minimum Qualifications

Certifications & Licenses: Appropriate academic credentials and experience are required as determined by the nature of the instructional position according to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) criteria. Candidates should have one or more certifications including CCC, CCE, CEC, CEPC, ProStart, and ServSafe. Qualifications/Requirements: Candidates must have an Associate’s Degree with a Bachelor’s degree preferred. Subject matter education and/or training and experience that have both the breadth and depth needed to ensure effective teaching in the appropriate subject areas are the minimum requirement. Additionally, there should be an understanding of, and a commitment to, community college education and the concept of a learning-centered, open admissions institution. Finally, faculty members should exhibit a professional demeanor and have the ability to work cooperatively with other faculty, staff, and students. Requirements for professional and scholarly preparation are those adopted by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Physical Requirements: The faculty member must be able to lift 25lbs.

Position Description

An Adjunct Faculty member in Culinary Arts works under the direct supervision of the program chair. An adjunct faculty member is responsibility for instruction and other duties as assigned. Instructional activities require, among other things, subject matter expertise and a thorough preparation for every class meeting. Other duties as assigned may include completion of necessary paperwork, kitchen set up and tear down, and other duties not listed here. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Within the area of instructional activities the instructor should a. demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the subject(s) taught; b. develop appropriate course goals and objectives along with evaluation methods which accurately measure student learning; c. be thoroughly prepared for each instructional responsibility including lecture, lab, shop and/or clinical time; d. maintain an up to date syllabus for each course. The syllabus should at minimum include the official catalog description, required text(s), instructor contact information, the course attendance policy, the course grading policy, the withdrawal policy, emergency closing information, and an ADA statement; e. conduct classroom, lab, shop or clinical activities which are consistent with course objectives; f. secure and maintain sufficient material, supplies, books, equipment, audiovisuals, and other resources necessary for each course; g. be present for the entire scheduled class times or provide appropriate class coverage plans to the Program Chair in the case of necessary absences; h. be available for both day and evening coursework on any MCC site (or arranged off-campus courses);
