Position Description
CCCC is recruiting for a Full-time Custodian for the Emergency Services Training Center in Sanford, NC.
TheĀ Position is responsible for the interior and exterior housekeeping duties of assigned campus buildings, including but not limited to floors, restrooms, windows, and furniture. Position also requires unlocking buildings at scheduled times, moving and arranging equipment and furniture, reporting maintenance problems to the Custodian Coordinator and assisting other maintenance personnel as needed. Individual must be a dependable, self-motivated and able to perform duties assigned without direct supervision.
The employees are subject to working in both inside and outside environments and exposure to various hazards such as loud noises, vibration, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals and human body fluids and thus is subject to OSHA requirements on blood borne pathogens. Work is performed under regular supervision and is evaluated through observation and inspection to determine thoroughness in carrying out assigned duties.
Salary is determined by education and experience.
Essential Duties
- Keeping all buildings and their contents, inside and out, clean as assigned (floors, restrooms, windows, furniture, walks, etc.).
- Reporting any damages or problems with buildings or equipment to the Custodian Coordinator.
- Moving and arranging equipment and furniture as assigned.
- Unlocking assigned building at scheduled time and reporting problems with heat or air immediately.
- Assisting other maintenance personnel as needs arise.
- Scheduling and performing work so that it gets done without interfering with classes or other activities.
- Performing other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
- Empty outside trash cans.
- Keep mechanical rooms & janitorial closets clean and tidy.
- Clean sidewalks around building and entrances with leaf blower.
- Pull weeds in shrub beds as needed.
- Wet mop hard surface floors.
- Buff hard surface floors.
- Refinish hard surface floors.
- Clean spots in carpet and furniture.
- Submit work orders for any maintenance items, i.e, toilet problems, lighting issues.
- Clean and dust ceiling diffusers and lighting fixtures.
- Dust furniture, all high walls, and ledges.
- Clean all whiteboards and trays daily with whiteboard cleaner.
- Clean all glass at entrances to building.
- Remove all cobwebs inside and outside of building.
- Complete the annual five-hour staff development requirement.
- Follow and support College activities, policies, and procedures.
