Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Education/Training:
A 2-year degree in Information Technology, or CyberSecurity, from an accredited college or university or specialized training at the level required to meet SACS criteria for academic and professional preparation of the assigned area of instruction.
Minimum Experience:
No experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills:
One or more years of experience in an instructional setting as a tutor or teacher are preferred.
A 4-year degree is preferred,
License or Certificate:
Comptia Network+ and Security+ Certification within 90 days of employment.
Higher Certifications can be substituted ( CySA+, CASP+, CCNA, PENTEST+ CEH, CHFI)
Position Description
DEFINITION:
To provide classroom instruction to students through lecture, demonstration, laboratory exercises, handouts, responding to questions, and testing in the area of Computer Security and general IT courses.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Receives general supervision from the Department Chair of the Business Technologies Department. Receives technical direction from the Information Technology Program Director.
Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Essential Functions:
Provide classroom and laboratory instruction to students.
Prepare lesson plans and schedule classroom activities; develop, and prepare supplemental materials to enhance textbook lessons.
Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance; grade and record individual scores.
Act as an advisor and counselor to students; provide individual tutoring to students outside of the classroom as needed.
Provide classroom demonstrations on various equipment and machinery; develop laboratory assignments to provide hands on experience as appropriate.
Participate in curriculum development, evaluation, and change; attend faculty meetings as required.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, and performance; maintain other records and
databases according to program needs or accreditation requirements.
Stay abreast of new developments, and changes in various academic fields; participate in staff development programs, workshops, seminars, and other continuing education programs as appropriate.
Oversee the implementation of policies and procedures related to required teaching area.
Participate on college committees and in other institutional activities and programs.
Other Important Functions:
Fill in for other instructors as needed. Teach day and evening courses.
Assess the relevancy and impact of various lessons; revise and improve lesson format; evaluate
various texts book and select books to be used for future classes.
Assist in the recruitment of student from community high schools.
Oversee and participate in the field studies and assignment; travel with students to provide assistance and instruction as appropriate.
Participate in a variety of student related administrative activities including reviewing admission
requirements, progress and qualifications for graduation (required activity for all nursing faculty).
Demonstrate competence regarding the handling of hazardous substance such as blood borne pathogens; continually undergo training and train student in such procedures (required for all nursing faculties).
Demonstrate community involvement (required for all nursing faculty).
Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of:
Proficiency in Computer Security and IT.
Relevant coursework in Networking, Network Attack Methods, Information Security, and General Computer skills.
Classroom and laboratory instructional techniques and procedures.
Principles and procedures of academic and instructional program development and
administration in the area of assignment.
Current trends, research, and development in the area of assignment.
Principles and procedures of record keeping.
Principles and techniques involved in test development and administration.
Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
Ability To:
Interpret and apply college goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
Interpret and apply Federal, State and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for:
. making observations
. reading and writing
. communicating with others
. operating assigned equipment
. handling varied tasks simultaneously.
Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following:
. standing or sitting for extended periods of time

. preparing and presenting instructional material.
