Minimum Qualifications

An earned Master’s Degree in a field relevant to Arts and Sciences education; five years of recent demonstrated successful experience in a higher education environment with a distinguished record of leadership and intellectual achievement; a minimum of three years of higher education classroom experience; significant administrative, external funding, and budgetary experience; outstanding communication skills; and demonstrated experience in the maintenance and development of educational and service missions.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate in a field relevant to higher education.

Position Description

The ideal candidate is visionary and strategic in approach, adept at critical thinking and creative problem solving, and is committed to the learning college philosophy.  The Dean shall be responsible for the operation of the College’s Arts and Sciences divisions and shall report directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.  The Dean will be responsible for (1) Managing the overall quality and future directions of the Arts and Sciences curricula; (2) Articulating a clear vision for associate-level degree programs in Arts and Sciences and providing compelling leadership to realize the vision; (3) Encouraging and facilitating faculty development; (5) Supervising faculty recruitment and hiring processes; (6) Executing responsible budget planning and management of state and other funding; (7) Managing internal administrative operations and resources; (8) Building upon established relationships with various constituencies, colleges, and services; and (9) Promoting a positive, diverse, and excellent environment for faculty and students.
