REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Skills
Required: Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in a field related to the program area or in an education related field, including but not limited to Education Administration or Higher Education.
Preferred: Bilingual
Experience
Required: A minimum of 3 years of progressive leadership experience in higher education.
Preferred: Community college experience that includes supervision of academic programs.

Position Description
Plan, develop, administer, supervise and evaluate all curriculum programs in the Business and Industry Department; coordinate programming with area schools and colleges; coordinate short-term and long-term planning of programs, monitor budget and expenditures. This position reports to the Vice President of Curriculum/Chief Academic Officer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Supervise faculty and staff to ensure the department provides quality instruction and other related services.
- Employ and dismiss departmental personnel in accordance with JSCC personnel policy.
- Teach classes as assigned.
- Manage departmental fiscal affairs within allotted budget.
- Maintain records and submit institutional reports relevant to department.
- Develop departmental policies and procedures and implement instructional policies and procedures.
- Recommend budget needs.
- Serve as a liaison with business and industry, public schools, other colleges and universities.
- Advise Vice President of departmental and institutional concerns and needs.
- Identify annual goals and objectives for the department.
- Conduct an annual evaluation of each member of the department.
- Promote welfare of the college.
- Maintain good rapport with students, colleagues, staff and community, being conscious of individual problems and needs.
- Participate in professional organizations.
- Attend appropriate professional development opportunities.
- Coordinate departmental registration and pre-registration process.
- Coordinate curriculum development activities and program evaluation processes.
- Coordinate meetings with departmental advisory committees.
- Provide assistance and information as needed in preparation for external funding proposals.
- Coordinate schedules of courses and faculty schedules in the delivery of programs/services.
- Recruit, advise and counsel students.
- Communicate and coordinate activities related to area with other areas of the College.
- Serve on college committees.
- Acquire computer/technology skills as appropriate to position.
- Assist with equipment and inventory and software renewals.
- Maintain security of personal computer access.
- Perform other professional or job-related duties as assigned
