Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in a relevant business discipline from an accredited college or university. Minimum of five years of successful educational experience with at least three years teaching experience and two years administrative experience at the post-secondary level. Working knowledge of community college philosophy, program accessibility, and use of alternative and technology rich instruction to improve teaching and learning. Demonstrated ability in instructional leadership and management. Proven ability in program development, planning, and curriculum and budget management. Experience working with diverse populations. Successful track record of building and maintaining external partnerships. Exhibits the visionary qualities of a forward-thinking leader in a rapidly changing economic and social environment. (Applicants not meeting this minimum requirement will not be considered.)

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate degree in a relevant business discipline preferred. Industry related work experience is a plus.

Position Description

The position requires a visionary leader who involves faculty and staff in continuous improvement to evaluate student learning, growth, and development. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to effectively work with other departments of the College, and with public and private agencies in the community to identify and implement innovative strategies that are designed to improve social and economic mobility of students and conditions within the College’s service area. In addition, the position requires constant monitoring of employer and community needs to assess program alignment with competency requirements, identify and evaluate the potential for new programs and initiatives, and coordinate career pathway opportunities with secondary institutions. This individual provides vision and energy for disciplines and programs within Business Division, and is responsible for researching, planning, and implementing innovative strategies to grow enrollment and support the unique needs of students transferring to four-year institutions. The individual has demonstrated change management skills within an academic culture that is focused on improving student outcomes and preparing students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to thrive in a globalized economy.

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

Recruit and select highly qualified and diverse faculty, professional, and support staff.

Work with faculty and staff to further enhance a positive and engaging learning environment that nurtures and supports a student-centered culture.

Respond appropriately and proactively to student concerns and needs.

Stimulate and support quality instruction and effective student learning through established course and program assessment processes.

Use internal and external data to spur program growth and enhance student retention and success rates.

Plan and coordinate course and program offerings for concurrent enrollment within the service area, community, and with school districts.

Continuously analyze and evaluate performance of faculty and staff to facilitate feedback to drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning and enhance student success.

Effectively use metrics, academic data, and labor market data to make decisions that impact departmental programs.
 

Establish long and short-range strategic plans and performance targets for the division and at the program level.
 

Promote, facilitate, and coordinate communication and outreach and community service activities among the instructional service areas of the College.
 

Explore and develop work-based learning and employment opportunities for disciplines and programs in concert with community and business partners through philanthropic and other external funding opportunities.
 

Update and oversee departmental faculty, student, and administrative records.
 

Prepare reports as needed by the College or other entities.
 

Keep abreast of professional development opportunities via professional meetings and review of literature.
 

Promote academic areas and the College via publications, presentations, and interactions with various community entities.
 

Assist with the creation of marketing and outreach strategies and content to promote the College and program enrollment.
 

Provide general direction over student placement in courses.
 

Cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the media and business community.
 

Serve on internal and external committees and task forces.
 

Ensure all programs are in compliance with College standards, policies, procedures, and program accreditation/reaccreditation requirements.
 

Perform other related duties as assigned.
