Position Description

Plan, direct, and review the activities and operations of assigned curriculum Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and Perkins related activities. Coordinate assigned activities with college departments and outside agencies. Provide administrative support to the Vice President for Instruction consistent with the College Mission. 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Direct the development, planning, implementation, and administration of goals and objectives regarding assigned programs.
  • Direct the development and administration of college budgets for assigned programs. Forecast resources needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies. Monitor and approve expenditures and implement adjustments during the budget year.
  • Oversee the planning, development, and implementation of new and revised programming within assigned areas.
  • Coordinate college program offerings with outside agencies.
  • Coordinate, advise and support program advisory committee activities in assigned areas. 
  • Provide oversight and assistance with programmatic accreditations.
  • Provide oversight and leadership for Comprehensive Local Needs Assessments and Perkins planning. Monitor achievement of Perkins milestones and prepare regular reports to NCCCS on behalf of the VP of Instruction.
  • Collaborate with workforce development boards and business/industry partners to continually evaluate CTE programs.
  • Liaise with Career Placement Coordinator to evaluate and identify locations for work-based learning placements and monitor job placement for graduates from assigned areas.
  • Plan and implement recruiting and retention events, activities, and strategies in collaboration with assigned departments, Coordinator of Recruitment, high school partners, CCP Director, and other college personnel.
  • Participate in the recruitment of, and make hiring recommendations for, curriculum CTE faculty.
  • Coordinate and review the yearly evaluation of curriculum CTE faculty.
  • Monitor curriculum CTE faculty workload.
  • Evaluate job performance of assigned department chairs. Review and coordinate relevant professional development activities for assigned chairs.
  • Serve on curriculum committee as an ex officio resource.
  • Assist and support the Vice President for Instruction.  Prepare and present necessary reports and correspondence to ensure maintenance of curriculum CTE programs. 
  • Remain current with N.C. Community College System policies, federal regulations, SACS, and Nash Community College procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned which contribute to the efficient and effective operation of Nash Community College.
  • Participate in and support ongoing assessment, planning and evaluation to improve student learning.
  • Attend annual graduation exercises.
  • Serve on institutional committees and to fulfill committee assignments.
  • Serve on President’s Administrative Council.
  • Participate in on-going curriculum review and formal evaluation and implement necessary changes for improvement.
  • Participate in professional development activities provided by NCC. 
  • Participate in College events and activities.
  • Maintain regular and consistent on-site attendance during normal hours of college operations in fulfillment of duties not inconsistent with the expectations for full-time employees and College policies and procedures.
  • Initiate and answer telephone calls and video conference calls.
  • Perform other duties as assigned which contribute to the efficient and effective operation of NCC.
  • Serve on various committees as assigned.
  • Participate in and support ongoing assessment, planning and evaluation to improve student learning.
