Minimum Qualifications

A Master’ degree or higher in an area relevant to the curriculum offerings in the Health Science Division.

Five years’ experience as an academic program department head, department chair or director at a post-secondary institution. Teaching experience in the field of health sciences. Demonstrated administrative and managerial ability. Leadership or management experience in a community college setting preferred.

Position Description

Accountable for the strategic leadership, faculty and staff development, and operational management of the Health Sciences Division to include supervision and evaluation of direct reports and other employees; providing multi-program coordination of course scheduling and management of course loading to meet student and program needs; management of budgets; developing relevant institutionally effectiveness goals for the division; and oversees the development of faculty goals that contribute to the accomplishment of the division and College’s goals; assessment and continual improvement strategies of programs and courses; and the development of relationships with healthcare institutions, other institutions of higher education, and other external entities related to the College’s overall strategic plan.

Leads and manages the development and implementation process for short and long-term plans for the Health Sciences Division that support and contribute to the achievement of the College’s strategic objectives, goals, and mission, and evaluates the effectiveness of such plans and activities.
Implement and monitor an approved comprehensive and systematic approach to continuous improvement by using and analyzing program, course, and student assessment data to design, review, evaluate, and revise programs and academic success services.
Maintain accredited program standards to assure continuation of program accreditation standards and program articulation agreements.
Lead and provide guidance in operational systems that result in effective and efficient administrative processes for budget management, inventory management, student advisement, student learning outcomes, recruitment and retention, course scheduling and instructional operations, faculty orientation, securing clinical sites for the programs in the division, and all others systems that support instruction, instructional administration, and student support.
Engage in the faculty selection and recruitment process to select qualified, SACSCOC and program credentialed faculty; provide leadership development of program directors; and encourage professional development opportunities for faculty and staff with an emphasis on remaining ever current in their field of study and promoting the College’s mission. Supervise and evaluate faculty and staff.
Manage and encourage communication within and between divisions to promote collaboration, process improvement, retention, graduation, and program and instructional best practices.
Build and maintain relationships and alliances with external constituencies to fulfill the mission, goals and objectives of the College as it relates to the Health Sciences Division. Build and maintain relationships with the College’s Foundation, and seek gifts and grants whenever possible and appropriate.
Accountable for ensuring consistency with compliance with SACSCOC, College and academic policies and procedures. Ensures all timelines are met and requirements are submitted by established deadlines.
Provide community level support by developing advisory boards which contribute to the accomplishment of the division’s goals. Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to, serving on committees and participating in professional development.
