Minimum Qualifications
1. Masters degree in health or health-related field, Education or public service.
2. Experience teaching at the college level.
3. Two years of experience at the management or supervisory level.
4. Four years of patient-centered clinical experience or working in public service.

Position Description
Under the direction of the Vice President of Academic Affairs/Chief Academic Officer, the Dean of Health Sciences and Public Services provides leadership, motivates others, and facilitates change while effectively managing programs of learning, resources, and personnel. This individual services as a liaison among students, faculty, staff, administration, and the community. The Dean promotes promotes Cleveland Community College’s mission by providing effective management and supervision of health sciences and public services programs, including medical assisting, nursing, radiography, surgical technology, nursing assistance, basic law enforcement, fire protection, and emergency medical services.
1. Evaluate the annual performance of department chairs; coordinate evaluation of discipline coordinators, full-time and adjunct faculty.
2. Assist the Vice President of Academic Programs with on-going, systematic assessment and evaluation for the continuous improvement of instruction and related services.
3. Ensure that all assessments on the program level (program review) are completed by the department chairs and program coordinators and program area faculty as appropriate, while confirming that all programs in the division meet local, NCCCS, and SACS-COC quality standards.
4. Review program recommendations and implement program improvements, per curriculum protocols (i.e. NCCCS curriculum standards, Curriculum Committee changes, and through attending annual academic Advisory Board committee meetings.
5. Conduct regularly divisional meetings; coordinate and approve faculty work schedules; approve the schedule of semester course offerings; and , participate in registration, pre-registration, and student orientation.
6. Ensure that courses are scheduled according to the suggested sequence in the catalog.
7. Ensure that schedules are coordinated between various departments within the division.
8. Evaluate teaching overload requests and provide justification if necessary for approved overloads.
9. Ensure that official transcripts and other credentials are filed for each full-time and adjunct faculty member prior to the beginning of the faculty member’s teaching assignment.
10. Coordinate divisional and departmental requests for instructional equipment, materials, and supplies.
11. Work with the public school superintendents, directors, and coordinators to provide attractive programs for dual enrollment, Career and College Promise, and Cleveland Early College High School.
12. Publicize programs with Cleveland County Schools, Chambers of Commerce, business and industry and other potential employers.
13. Visit Career and College Promise classrooms; establish rapport with school site leadership and faculty.
14. Ensure that programs in the division meet local, NCCCS, and SACS-COC quality requirments.
15. Attend annual advisory committee meetings.
16. Coordinate grants for professional development with the Vice President for Student Development and the Vice President for Academic Affairs (e.g., Perkins, First in the World).
17. Ensure full-time and adjunct faculty have adequate professional development opportunities.
18. Work with business and industry to establish on-site courses and work-based learning opportunities.
19. Participate on search committees and serve on interview teams for the selection of full-time faculty and coordinators.
20. Assist with accreditation and related reports.
21. Serve on committees as required.
22. Performs other duties as assigned and other related duties incident to the work described herein.
