Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Health Sciences or Human Services Field,
- Supervisory and administrative experience,
- Five years teaching experience in an academic setting, or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven record of leadership in college initiatives.
- Teaching, supervision and/or administrative experience in a higher education setting.
- Understanding of the mission and philosophy of the North Carolina Community College System.
- Experience in curriculum development, course development, and assessment in a higher education setting.
- An understanding and commitment to the implementation and assessment of consistent, accurate, timely and holistic academic advising.
- Considerable knowledge of NCCCS policies, operating procedures and programs.
- Excellent management and customer service skills.

The Dean of Health Sciences reports to the Vice President, Chief Academic Officer and assumes overall supervision, leadership and effective operation for the health sciences curricula throughout the College's service area.

Essential Duties
- Responsible for the quality of instructional programs, including instructional delivery, advising and ensuring programs remain current with industry, accreditation, professional, collegiate, and NCCCS standards.
- Research and implement new and/or different programs of instruction based on service area needs and make recommendations to the Vice President, Chief Academic Officer.
- Responsible for the immediate supervision of those within the division (namely department chairs, lead instructors, program directors and support personnel) as well as the responsibility for indirect supervision of curriculum faculty.
- Implement the College's employee evaluation program to ensure quality performance and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the recruitment and hiring process of faculty and staff within the division and make recommendations on personnel matters to the Vice President, Chief Academic Officer , including providing justifications and documentation of need when appropriate.
- Ensure the proper credentialing, training, skills, and licensing of all faculty members within the division according to SACS-COC, program accreditation, and College guidelines.
- Foster positive community relations.
- Coordinate with department chairs and program directors in organizing and implementing effective program advisory committees.
- Ensure effective and appropriate supervision and coordination of budgets and resources.
- Coordinate with business, industry, and secondary partners, as well as senior and sister institutions in support of currency of education and training programs, and effective articulated efforts and partnerships.
- Maintain office records in accordance with College and NCCCCS policies; process reports, forms, schedules, contracts and other administrative records in an accurate and timely manner
- Employ a collaborative leader ship style which encourages teamwork with peer Deans, Provosts, Continuing Education staff and other internal stakeholders.
- Assume other duties as assigned by the Vice President, Chief Academic Officer.
