Required:  Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in an academic discipline, Higher Education, or a related field.  

Preferred: Master's degree with advanced skills in educational research, institutional planning, and statistical methods. Bilingual.

Experience
 
Required:  Experience in strategic planning, research development, accreditation, and compliance.

Position Description

Salary is Commensurate on experience and education 

The Dean of Institutional Effectiveness and Strategic Initiatives is responsible for overseeing strategic planning initiatives and working directly with the Director of Institutional Effectiveness to assist with institutional planning, research, reporting, and accreditation requirements. The position also maintains accurate records of college policy and procedures to ensure compliance in all areas. This includes any necessary updates and changes. The position reports directly to the Vice President of Curriculum / Chief Academic Officer (CAO). 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide counsel and serve as the strategic advisor to the Vice President of Curriculum / CAO (designated Accreditation Liaison) for short-term and long-term institutional planning. 
  • Work with the Director of Institutional Effectiveness to assist with all accreditation efforts. 
  • Serve as the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) Director.
  • Oversee the Perkins grant. 
  • Assist with all College reporting. 
  • Carry out special projects and programs initiated by the Vice President of Curriculum / CAO. 
  • Develop and maintain professionalism, collaboration, mutual respect, and open lines of communication between faculty and students, other areas of the College, and the community at large.
  • Work alongside division deans to assist with program quality and continuous improvement of all academic program areas. 
  • Responsible for coordinating the administration of policies related to the area and to assist with ensuring compliance with accrediting and regulating agencies and authorities. 
  • Works with the Director of Institutional Effectiveness to provide data that highlights College strengths as well as opportunities for improvement. 
  • Assist with providing new employees with appropriate orientation to the area and College.
  • Provides opportunities for area faculty and staff to participate in professional development activities that advance the mission of the College.
  • Responsible for assisting the area with meeting deadlines and reporting requirements. 
  • Conduct divisional meetings with division deans and curriculum faculty and staff as needed.
  • Serve on the Academic Affairs Committee and work with division deans to assist with program and curriculum changes. 
  • Evaluate the financial analysis of curriculum program costs and program outcomes.
  • Make recommendations for plans and growth of curriculum programs. 
  • Provide oversight for professional development activities for the area. 
  • Represent the College at meetings, conferences and events as appropriate.
  • Work closely with the Associate Vice President of Workforce Development and Continuing Education to maximize course offerings and build pathways with Curriculum. 
  • Assist in the coordination of data gathering of information relevant to each divisional area to be used in research projects, survey completion, report completion and planning assumptions in improving institutional effectiveness.
  • Participate in joint planning with other educational, public agencies and the private sector.
  • Provide guidance to ensure compliance with all grant fund requirements.
  • Engage in professional development and community service activities.
  • Acquire computer/technology competencies as appropriate to the position.
  • Maintain security of personal computer access.
  • Encourage and support College activities, policies, procedures, and philosophies.
  • Actively participate in professional organizations.
  • Perform other professional or job-related duties as assigned.
  • Serve on college committees as directed by the supervisor.
