Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in a related field in the Division of Workforce & Continuing Education, AND
  • Three (3) years of progressive and relevant experience in a higher education or non-profit organization
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience in management, or combination of education and relevant experience

 

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Experience creating, developing and managing higher education programs or related program management experience
  • Experience developing tools for assessing program effectiveness and benchmarks for program retention
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Effective organizational skills 
  • Exemplary leadership, communication, and self-reflection, with the ability to teach these skills to others
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to delegate work appropriately to faculty and staff to meet college and campus deliverables
  • Ability to use computer applications and enterprise systems, including proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
  • Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with diverse populations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in defining learning outcomes, developing curricula, and evaluating workforce programs
  • Demonstrated experience in an employment or job readiness training programs that targets job placement and retention for low-income populations
  • Demonstrated experience leading entrepreneurial and innovative initiatives
  • Leadership in creating unique pathways for community members to and through a post-secondary training provider
  • Proficiency in developing and delivering non-credit programs and services for school-age children, adults, seniors, and other target populations
  • Demonstrated experience in organizing community members and groups to resolve concerns using community-based solutions

The Dean of Workforce & Continuing Education Programs leads and manages several program units charged with developing and growing market-driven and strategic continuing and workforce education opportunities in the CCCC service area. CCCC is focused on supporting employers in developing talent pipelines and students in successfully navigating pathways to success.

Essential Duties

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and engaging faculty and subject-matter experts to develop industry-relevant content and scheduling to align with industry demand;
  • Collaborating with college stakeholders to establish seamless transitions from non-credit courses to credit programs; 
  • Managing and supporting the Workforce & Continuing Education staff in meeting the workforce training goals of the community, including researching new programs and assessing existing programs;
  • Developing, implementing, and assessing strategies to continually improve the quality and effectiveness of non-credit programs and services;
  • Leading and working with staff to design and deliver programming offered in face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats, incorporating the most current instructional technologies and digital learning techniques;
  • Assessing the needs of the community to identify educational, civic, recreational, and cultural opportunities for service;
  • Cultivating an entrepreneurial and growth mindset approach with employees;
  • Representing the Workforce and Continuing Education department internally and externally, acting as a liaison between the college and the community;
  • Monitoring performance and efficiency to improve continuing education offerings and business and industry training to increase college’s return on investment;
  • Developing collaborative partnerships with community leaders and organizations to maintain and manage opportunities for learning;
  • Increasing the visibility of non-credit programs to establish CCCC as the leading provider of high-quality workforce and continuing education in the service area
  • Serve on College committees as assigned.
  • Complete the annual five-hour staff development.
  • Encourage and support College activities, policies, procedures, and philosophies.
    Perform other duties as assigned.

Dean is responsible for Workforce and Continuing Education programs across the CCCC service area. Position requires travel between Chatham, Harnett, and Lee counties.
