Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in adult and community college education or related field is required
- Instructional or administrative experience with at least three years of experience in a higher education setting is required
- Minimum of three years of supervisory experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience with analyzing administrative and statistical reports and providing solutions is required
- Experience with maintaining order and discipline among students
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

Position Description
The Dean of Student Services has the overall responsibility for directing the Student Services Division. The Dean provides leadership and support for all areas in student services including admissions, counseling, advising, financial aid, registrar, work-based learning and job placement, Early College High School, high school programs, athletics, Student Center, orientations, placement assessment, Learning Resources Center, and student clubs/organizations.
The duties of the Dean of Student Services include, but are not limited to:
- Develop, plan, implement, and administer goals and objectives in Student Services
- Serve as Title IX Coordinator for student complaints
- Maintain accurate records and complaint logs for compliance with the College's regional accrediting agency, the Southern Association of Colleges and School Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and with the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS)
- Ensure the division appropriately reviews its service outcomes annually
- Oversee Student Success Advisor/American with Disabilities Act services and compliance
- Develop and implement policies and procedures regarding student services and other activities
- Serve as chairperson of the Student Services Committee and Diversity Committee
- Serve on the Administrative Council, Academic Affairs Committee, Performance Improvement Committee, and Technology Committee
- Ensure organizational and management practices are applied to the planning, analysis, and evaluation of programs and policies within the division
- Provide leadership in the area of student services program development, budget management and preparation, and pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations
- Provide effective provisions for student support services for all college departments and programs, both traditional and at a distance
- Serve as the primary student conduct administrator for the College
- Assist with facilitation of the North Carolina Community College Loan program along with other emergency financial aid programs
- Advise students on their rights and responsibilities at the College
- Oversee budget for the student services technical assistant fund
- Oversee orientation and advising programs for new students entering the College
- Facilitate the College's commencement exercises
- Respond to current and potential student inquiries by telephone, email, and in person
- Serve as designee to resolve student issues on campus
Working Conditions
- Office setting with some travel required
- Some sitting at a desk or workstation utilizing a telephone, computer, keyboard, and mouse; frequent standing and walking
- Meetings are held at both on and off campus sites
