Position Description

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College seeks an experienced and proven academic leader to serve as the Dean of Technical Programs. The Dean reports to the Academic Vice President and leads a diversity of technical programs in the areas of Automotive, Business, Engineering, Construction, Graphic Design, Manufacturing, Machining and Welding. The Dean is responsible for direct supervision of technical program chairs on multiple campuses and manages a multi-million-dollar budget.

We are seeking a seasoned professional with a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a dean or program chair. The Dean will have a significant role in planning, constructing and programming of the expansion of our North Campus for technical program facilities. Funded through a $45 million local bond, the new Technical Education Complex will house our expanded Automotive, Machining, Welding, and Arts programs. The successful candidate will have experience in the development and deployment of technical programs and innovative facility development.

The Dean is expected to be heavily involved with the college’s business and industry partners, as well as our local high school career and technical education programs. The candidate is expected to have business acumen, be energetic and engaged in the community, and have experience with strategic planning and execution. This position is a key component of the college’s academic administration and, as such, requires candidates with relevant academic preparation, a proven track record of success in community college program management, and demonstrated successful leadership of faculty and staff.
