Master’s degree in Transportation or related field 

Combination of five years of full-time post-secondary teaching, administrative and/or managerial experience

Community College teaching, administration, and/or management of faculty or comparable experience in the automotive sector

Position Description

Pay Grade:  Manager 9

This position is responsible for providing oversight and leadership of the Transportation Technologies division and the Hendrick Center for Automotive Excellence.
 

Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)

*  Provides overall leadership and direction for the academic division

*  Manages the operations of the Hendrick Center for Automotive Excellence

*  Develops and nurtures relationships with industry leaders that result in new and enhanced training opportunities in the automotive, collision-repair, and heavy equipment industries

*  Develops, executes, and assesses a division-wide institutional effectiveness plan that supports the vision and mission of the College

*  Represents the division internally and externally in the transportation sector.

*  Collaborates internally and externally to secure local, state, federal and private grants that foster student success

Provides the division with the appropriate resources to effectively meet its objectives

Ensures that each discipline convenes a high-performing advisory committee committed to student success

Recruits, hires, supervises and appraises the performance of division supervisors and staff

Oversees faculty hiring and performance assessment

Ensures that faculty credentials are relevant and current

Mitigates division personnel complaints or performance issues

Ensures accessibility to quality contemporary programs that position students for economic mobility

Facilitates new program development, program maintenance, and the program termination processes

Develops and is accountable for division assessment plans of core competencies, program outcomes, and student learning outcomes

Collaborates with the public-school system to develop and deliver appropriate pathway opportunities to our Career and College Promise students and those enrolled at our cooperative innovative high schools

Collaborates with Workforce Continuing Education to develop pathways to curriculum credentials

Oversees the development of class schedules and faculty workloads

Develops and facilitates division growth and retention plans

Mitigates student complaints and grade appeals

Ensures that students receive timely and relevant faculty advising.

Approves course substitutions, course repeats, and reviews graduation audits

Evaluates transcripts and third-party credentials for transfer credit into division programs

Develops and promotes university transfer opportunities for our graduates to earn bachelor degrees

Collaborates internally and externally to offer students exposure to employers and jobs

Develops opportunities for students to participate in work-based learning, internships and apprenticeships

Develops and participates in recruitment initiatives including outreach to underrepresented populations

Manages the division’s equipment, travel, and supply budget allotment                                                   
Procures and manages supplies and equipment purchases and related maintenance contracts

Ensures all OSHA standards, policies and procedures are maintained at all times

Responsible for maintaining ASE and AED accreditation

Participates in commencement exercises

Demonstrates resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential

Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with others across the college

Familiarity with NC Community College System policies and procedures
