Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and a Diploma from the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) accredited Dental Assisting Program is required. A Current Dental Assisting National Board Certification (CDA) and CPR Certification are required. Excellent oral and written communication skills and proficiency with commonly used computer software are required. Three years of full-time chairside dental experience with proficiency in four-handed dentistry is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Five or more years of chairside dental experience and teaching experience are preferred. Bilingual is preferred.
Position Description
The Dental Assisting Instructor is responsible for teaching an average of 15-22 credit hours per semester. The instructor will recruit and advise; participate in required special events including college and faculty meetings, orientation, and graduation; participate in curriculum development, program evaluation and planning, accreditation, achievement of learning outcomes, and committee assignments. The Dental Assisting Instructor will demonstrate a commitment to creating a culture that encourages excellence, professional development, continued competence in the area of responsibility, and an understanding of the diverse backgrounds of students. The Instructor will perform all other duties as assigned by the Dental Department Chair and the Dean of Allied Health and Public Services.
