Minimum Qualifications
Masters or higher degree in Mathematics or Math Education. Must have at least 18 credit hours in graduate level mathematics courses.
Communication, both oral and written, skills necessary. Must have expert efficiency in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
Preferred Qualifications
Online teaching experience.
Three or more years of experience teaching curriculum-level mathematics at the community college level.
Leadership experience.

Announcement Summary
Fayetteville Technical Community College is seeking qualified applicants for this exempt department chair position. Qualified candidates will possess excellent computer skills, demonstrate evidence of flexible work experiences, and a willingness to change; be open-minded, fair, and possess the ability to see multiple perspectives; be willing to take risks and accept responsibility for professional and personal growth.
Duties
Assist the Division Chair of Mathematics with the following tasks for the benefit of the Math Department:
Identify, interview, and select potential new faculty, both full-time and adjunct.
Provide initial divisional orientation and training to new hires.
Determine math classes needed to support FTCC programs and schedule classes.
Determine budgetary needs within the department.
Create, update, and review course outlines.
Suggest and review new course materials including textbooks, software, etc.
Provide ongoing training to faculty in the use of new technology, revisions/updates to the Blackboard template, and revisions/updates to the syllabus template.
Ensure department, program, and course materials are accessible, as well as mathematics classrooms.
Advise students and process graduation applications.
Train faculty in new and existing procedures for advising, submitting necessary reports, and tracking student retention.
Supervise faculty, to include arranging class coverage, performing teaching observations, mentoring, and completing annual performance appraisals.
Resolve student complaints in a fair and timely manner.
Perform other duties as explained in the job description for Department Chairs in the Organization Handbook.
Perform the following tasks as a faculty member of the Math Department:
Teach face-to-face classes to include days, evenings, and weekends both on and off campus.
Teach online classes.
Complete all responsibilities of an advisor to the Associate in General Education program.
Complete all instructional responsibilities as explained in the job description for instructional faculty.
Participate in faculty committees and other activities as assigned.
