Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with appropriate credential(s) specific to one or more of the following concentrations: abdominal sonography, cardiac sonography, obstetrics and gynecology sonography, and vascular sonography.
Minimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field.
Communication, both oral and written, and computer skills necessary
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited university with appropriate credential(s) specific to one or more of the following concentrations: abdominal sonography, cardiac sonography, obstetrics and gynecology sonography, and vascular sonography. .
Minimum of five years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field.
Teaching experience at a community college or four-year university.
Documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance and in educational theories and techniques.
Position Description
The Medical Sonography curriculum provides knowledge and clinical skills in the application of high frequency sound waves to image internal body structures. Course work includes physics, cross-sectional anatomy, abdominal, introductory vascular, and obstetrical/gynecological sonography.
Seek initial accreditation approval from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
Maintain CAAHEP Diagnostic Medical Sonography accreditation of the program.
Teach face-to-face, online, and blended Medical Sonography courses to include days, evenings, and weekends both on and off campus as needed by the Department.
Incorporate latest instructional technologies and interactive learning strategies in course delivery.
Plan, organize, and coordinate all aspects of the Medical Sonography Program.
Develop, review, and recommend new or modified course outlines, supplies, materials, and textbooks; maintain currency of instructional techniques and methods; ensure courses are ADA compliant.
Recruit, supervise, mentor, and evaluate program faculty.
Develop and maintain community relationships that support the mission of the school and the Medical Sonography Program.
Monitor and improve student retention.
Provide input to the Dean of Allied Health Technologies on departmental budget needs to include supplies, equipment, travel, and other costs.
Participate in student recruitment efforts and advisement for increased enrollment and retention.
Provide quality customer service to students, faculty, and staff.
Comply with instructional responsibilities, as explained in the job description for the instructional
faculty.
Participate in faculty committees and other activities, as assigned.
