Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and have the ability to adapt to other professional software applications for resource development
  • Ability to type at least 50 words per minute
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently, but also have the ability to work as a team player
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid driver's license
  • Must have or be able to obtain a North Carolina Notary Public
  • Must be able to score 90% or higher on the Passport Application Acceptance Training

Working Conditions

  • Typical office environment
  • Frequently sitting at a desk or workstation using a telephone, computer, keyboard, and mouse; some standing and walking
  • Must be able to lift and move 35 pounds or more
  • Ability to participate in fund-raising events with long-term exposure to heat and cold

Position Description

The Development Assistant will handle purchasing, accounts payable and receivable, and general office procedures. The Development Assistant will assist the Development Coordinator with scheduling volunteers.

The duties of the Development Assistant include, but are not limited to:

  • Operate computer terminal for word processing, spreadsheets, desktop publishing, and resource development
  • Maintain accurate donor records and Fund Authority documents
  • Maintain the condition of the office and arranging for necessary repairs
  • Ensure protection and security of files and records
  • Transfer and dispose of records according to retention schedules and policies
  • Prepare routine correspondence and reports
  • Prepare meeting materials, assist in demonstrations and presentations
  • Assist with special event and institutional advancement activities
  • Work with the LCC Foundation Board of Directors in coordinating quarterly meetings
  • Interact with staff and the public in a cordial, responsive, professional manner to promote the LCC Foundation and the College
  • Assist with purchasing, accounts payable and receivable, and general office procedures
  • Assist with set up and breakdown of displays, signage, and other activities related to institutional advancement activities
  • Prepare year-end tax documents and donor listings for annual report and donor board
  • Assist with passport applications and associated duties as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Institutional Advancement
