Digital Learning Specialist

SALARY:$35,000.00 - $40,000.00 Annually

OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY:

The Digital Learning Specialist provides administrative support to the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning & eLearning and technical support to faculty and staff related to distance learning. This position supports faculty and staff with our learning management system, digital content and instructional technology tools. The Digital Learning Specialist resolves basic technical problems, escalates unresolved queries, and follows up with faculty or staff via phone, videoconference, email, ticketing system, or in-person to ensure high functionality of learning technologies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates and oversees CTL and eLearning departmental budgets, ensuring that GL codes are sufficiently funded, transferring funds as necessary
  • Manages, develops, and monitors financial budgets for programs including HOTT 1, CORD and CAIR; ensures program budgets are properly funded and works collaboratively with the Director to ensure a balanced budget
  • Generates contract stipends for employees or contracted employees on an as needed basis
  • Provides general administrative support including preparation and maintenance of distance learning files, passwords, records and software licenses, travel forms, purchase requisitions, etc.
  • Sends updated course and program templates to the VLC each semester
  • Uploads files to the 24/7 Blackboard Help Desk weekly
  • Performs Moodle upgrades and maintenance activities each semester including updating site managers to course categories
  • Follows-up and updates any technical issues that are not resolved (Helpdesk tickets), determines the best solution based on the issue and details provided by users, and/or directs unresolved issues to the next level of support personnel
  • Supports digital instructional technology tools; serves as an instructional resource
  • Maintains department web pages through Craven Compass and Panther Portal
  • Supports faculty and staff with digital accessibility and our college ADA plan
  • Works collaboratively with other support services personnel to continuously improve work flow and communication
  • Participates in appropriate committees and task forces as assigned
  • Performs other job-related duties and projects as assigned in support of the College’s mission, core values and goals

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning OR three years equivalent related customer support work experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of computer assisted learning models
  • Knowledge of learning management systems such as Moodle/Blackboard
  • Knowledge of College policies and procedures related to distance education
  • Knowledge of customer service principles
