Minimum Qualifications

• A minimum of three years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field is required
• Possess a working knowledge of Adobe Suites or Canva
• Possess an understanding and use of content management systems like WordPress and a social media aggregator like Hootsuite
• Familiarity with APA and College Style Guide requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• An Associate’s or higher degree in communications studies, public relations, marketing, digital media, or journalism preferred
• Demonstrated experience with managing a medium-large website in a higher education setting preferred

Position Description

The Digital Media Specialist (DMS) assists in the coordination and production of content for the college’s website and social media channels. The DMS works closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications / Public Information Officer to develop a communications outreach strategy for the website and social media to promote the college’s mission and values. The DMS will use their skills in writing, editing and adapting content for social and digital channels to market the college’s programs to relevant audiences by engaging in storytelling methods to publish quality content across multiple digital platforms.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Create and edit high-quality content for the college website
- Manage information on the college website and ensure digital media and ADA compliance
- Daily maintenance and updates to the website
- Develop and implement creative and effective ways to increase traffic across digital channels
- Implement digital advertising campaigns by posting regular, engaging, and branded content across all social media channels
- Work with the Director Marketing & Communications to optimize the budget for targeted campaigns
- Manage and maintain the college’s social media accounts and identify new opportunities for the use of social media.
- Ensure timely and effective communication from the college on social media.
- Produce photographs and videos and create original multimedia content as assigned
- Produce regular reports measuring digital channel effectiveness
- Understand and maintain knowledge of design fundamentals to produce social media content with a working knowledge of Adobe Suites or Canva
- Collaborate with the College’s graphic designer to created branded content
- Understanding and use of content management systems like WordPress and a social media aggregator like Hootsuite
- Publish material consistent with APA and College Style Guide requirements
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, photo/video editing software, and social media platforms; experience running Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, AdRoll, and other digital media platforms; experience working with a website content management system, with preference for experience with WordPress and HTML coding

• Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word) and Adobe Creative Suite and common web content management platforms (Drupal, WordPress, etc.), HTML and CSS
• Proven ability to lead content development projects with key stakeholders
• Candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a team-oriented environment, the ability to manage multiple tasks, evolving priorities and tight deadlines and produce content within a timely manner, a willingness to provide quality customer service, and the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
• Specifically, they will bring experience in traditional, creative project management and strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills with a focus on attention to detail
• Ability to rapidly troubleshoot common website issues
• Ability, aptitude and willingness to learn and expand knowledge on web development tools, resources, and related software
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to work both in a team-oriented environment and independently
• Ability to provide quality customer service
• Ability to maintain high degree of confidentiality
• Awareness of cultural diversity/gender fair criteria in the selection and recommendation of materials

Surroundings/Environment:
• Standard office environment, usually indoors, away from the elements, with moderate noise

Physical Effort:
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain a stationary position for an extended period; move about the office, operate and position computers and files as needed; and frequently communicate with others. The employee may occasionally move up to 15 pounds

Scheduling:
• This position is a full-time, 37.5 hour/week position. The work week at the college is from Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. Teleworking may be available at the supervisor’s discretion and upon VP approval.
• Occasionally the employee will be available to work a flexible schedule, with day, evening, and weekend hours as job duties demand.

Travel:
• Local travel may be required, including between campus locations. Out-of-state travel is limited but may be necessary for special training/conferences.
