Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree with proficiency in college level curricula is required. Must be a self-starter, team player with demonstrated ability to work well with others, and have the ability to work with and relate to a diverse student populations.  Three or more years working in a post-secondary education environment and supervisory experience are required. Experience working with developmental and college level mathematics, English, and science course, and knowledge of student learning styles, assessment instruments, and other learning support systems are required.  Must be proficient in Microsoft office programs including office suite, data analytics, and budget planning and maintenance. 

Preferred Qualifications

 A Master’s degree is preferred. A National Career Readiness Certificate and bilingual are preferred

Position Description

The Academic Skills Center (ASC) Director will supervise, coordinate, and maintain professional and peer tutoring programs and labs including: Writing Center, Math Supplemental Lab, and Accounting Lab. The ASC Director will organize and supervise individual educational programs to supplement college curriculum and assisting community patrons in their pursuit of educational goals. Additional duties include coordinate with other departments on campus; supervise full-time and permanent staff; recruit, hire, and manage part-time professional tutors, student peer-tutors and work-study students; and mentor students and tutors. The Director will design and implement innovative tutoring methods and delivery systems; maintain departmental records; manage departmental budgets; and serve on college committees as assigned.  The ASC Director will participate in college’s assessment process and perform other duties and tasks as assigned by the Vice President for Academic Services.
