Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in education, higher education, assessment, institutional research, institutional effectiveness, or other relevant discipline. 
  • Five years of progressive leadership experience in education,
  • Demonstrated project management skills to oversee several projects concurrently and meet deadlines effectively.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Proven record of strong and effective leadership.
  • Track record of thinking conceptually and mastering complex subject matter quickly.
  • Proven ability to identify key issues and to carry forward an idea or project from conception to execution.
  • Good judgment, discretion, tact and the ability to work easily with senior leaders within the higher education, charitable, government, and business sectors.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others and provide excellent customer service.
  • Knowledge of college policies, procedures, and academic programs and rules and regulations within the North Carolina Community College System.
  • Ability to effectively utilize technology, including a strong understanding of and ability to work with higher education software systems and applications.
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement college-level programs.
  • Ability to make effective presentations to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), higher education accreditation, and reaffirmation processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral Degree earned or in progress
  • Leadership experience in the North Carolina Community College System

Position Description

The Director of Accreditation is responsible for gathering data to ensure compliance with all accreditation guidelines.

Essential Duties

Primary Duties: 

  • Ensures that compliance with accreditation requirements is incorporated into the planning and evaluation processes of the institution; 
  • Notifies the Commission in advance of substantive changes and program developments in accord with the substantive change policies; 
  • Familiarizes college faculty, staff and students with the Commission's accreditation policies and procedures, and with particular sections of the accrediting standards and Commission policies that have application to certain aspects of the campus especially when such documents are adopted or revised;
  • Coordinates the preparation of the annual profiles and any other reports requested by the Commission; 
  • Tracks and ensures compliance and submission of all other reports required by various accrediting bodies across the institution; 
  • Serves as a resource person during the fifth-year and decennial review process and helping prepare for and coordinating reaffirmation and other accrediting visits; 
  • Maintains list of Distance Ed programs and ensures compliance with relevant standards; maintains list of programs by location and ensures compliance with relevant standards. 
  • Ensures that electronic institutional data collected by the Commission is accurate and timely; and 
  • Maintains a file of all accreditation materials, such as reports related to the firth year and decennial review; accreditation committee reports; accreditation manuals, standards, and policies; schedules of all visits; and correspondence from accrediting offices. 

Other responsibilities

  • Serve on College committees as assigned.
  • Complete five hours of professional development, annually.
  • Encourage and support College activities, policies, procedures, and philosophies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
