Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a job-related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience working in higher education admissions, recruitment, education, marketing or student services.
  • Strong customer service, communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Five years of experience working in higher education admissions, recruitment, education, or marketing.
  • Three years of experience working in a North Carolina Community College. 
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience.

Position Description

The Director of Admissions and Enrollment Services provides leadership and supervisory responsibility for the College’s overall admission and enrollment efforts. The Director will oversee curriculum recruitment and outreach activities as well as policies and procedures concerning a student-centered approach to admissions. The Director supports the overall mission of the college, works collaboratively with other college departments to achieve institutional goals, and supervises the admissions staff.

Essential Duties:

  • Serve as a member of the student access and support leadership team and maintain responsibility for the overall administration and direction of the college’s admissions and enrollment efforts.
  • Provide leadership in developing and maintaining an effective student-centered admissions process for prospective and new students.
  • Provide leadership in developing and maintaining an effective student-centered testing center for prospective, new, and current students. 
  • Create and monitor admission policies and procedures and oversee the application processing operation, including the dissemination of college information to prospective students as required by federal and state law.
  • Manage an annual schedule of and collaborate with key stakeholders, including the outreach and student support coaches, to actively coordinate and participate in recruitment activities for all target groups such as high school graduates and career and college promise.
  • Develop informational materials both in print and digitally in conjunction with marketing and Dean of Student Access & Support to engage and recruit prospective students.
  • Manage and coordinate campus tours using technology where appropriate.
  • Maintain admissions website ensuring ADA Compliance.
  • Ensures that admission statistical reports, projections, and analyses are accurately prepared.
  • Provide high-level customer service to students in person, by telephone, email, text messaging, and other media formats.
  • Adhere to FERPA regulations regarding the maintenance, security, and confidentiality of all student records, as well as maintain the confidentiality of other documents on behalf of the enrollment and outreach department.
  • Adhere to federal regulations governing nondiscrimination in all admissions/enrollment-related practices and maintain program information that conforms to Student Consumer and Fair Practices in Education guidelines.
  • Use new technology to improve the admissions process for students.
  • Represent the college to prospective students and the general public with the highest degree of professionalism through an array of outreach programs and activities.
  • Provide professional-level support to the Dean of Student Access & Support through data analysis, project management including outreach projects, reports and presentations and departmental planning.
  • Develop strategies to assist prospective students with enrollment and registration.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Student Access & Support or the Vice President of Learning, Student Engagement & Success.
