Minimum Qualifications

Required educational background: 

  • Bachelor’s degree

 

Required kind and number years of work experience: 

  • Experience working within economic and/or workforce development. 
  • Experience building professional relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Experience working in or with manufacturing or industrial environments.

 

Required knowledge, skills and abilities: 

  • Knowledge of business, community and economic development.
  • Ability to support programs from draft through implementation. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively to groups and individuals. 
  • Skills in managing group facilitation. 
  • Ability to establish working relationships with employers, organizations and economic development partners. 
  • Ability to prepare and analyze reports and data

Preferred Qualifications

  • A working knowledge of NCCCS processes and procedures.
  • Advanced knowledge of the apprenticeship model of training, legislation, and regulations regarding apprenticeship programs.  
  • Customer service experience, with emphasis on client relations.
  • Training program development related to manufacturing and/or industrial industries.  
  • Previous supervisory experience.

This position coordinates and directs the college’s activities and programs relating to pre-apprenticeships, apprenticeships as well as workforce training related applied technologies.

Essential Duties

  • Provides leadership for the planning, development and delivery of pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship programs offered leveraging credit and continuing education programming. 
  • Coordinate with employers and workforce partners to expand pre-apprenticeships and apprenticeships including adult, incumbent worker and youth. 
  • Provide leadership and support of apprenticeship program knowledge to students, college faculty and staff, and employers. 
  • Assist in the development of marketing strategies and material to publicize apprenticeship programs. 
  • Responsible for the management, documentation, and accountability for apprenticeship programs sponsored and supported by the college. 
  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of programming focused on applied technologies including manufacturing and industrial training opportunities.  
  • Identify new and emerging employee training opportunities that align with economic market trends and industry workforce needs. 
  • Supervises the development of course and program curriculum, faculty recruitment, and learner outcomes for programs being offered in assigned areas.
  • Maintain and build working relationships with college teams, business and industry, governmental agencies, community organizations and workforce development partners to ensure quality and relevance to programs.
  • Research new opportunities for business and community engagement supporting manufacturing and industrial workforce development within the Central Carolina CC service area. 
  • Actively develop business and professional relationships, represent the college on relevant committees and boards, and perform regular business and corporate site visits to ensure quality apprenticeship experiences and promote training opportunities. 
  • Responsible for managing program budgets Provide input to Vice President and make recommendations for improvements to program and the department
