Five years of managerial experience in life sciences, biopharmaceutical, biotechnology or related fields.

Position Description
Pay Grade: Manager 8
This position coordinates all degree and non-degree biotechnology and BioNetwork Capstone Center activities and serves as the first-line manager of personnel, supplies, equipment, and facilities related to the discipline and the Center. Wake Tech Biotechnology Programs (51%) Department Head Responsibilities:
* Oversees the development, staffing, and delivery of biotechnology and biopharmaceutical academic programs.
* Develops and coordinates the department’s assessment plans that include program mission, goals, and program/student learning outcomes.
* Provides appropriate personnel, equipment, supplies, and facilities and manages budget allocations.
* Ensures the delivery of programs that foster economic mobility.
* Oversees the development of course offerings and full- and part-time instructor schedules that meet student needs.
Responsible for promoting program growth, retention efforts, and student success initiatives.
Maintains existing Bioworks-to-curriculum-credit pathway and develops new opportunities.
Oversees high school dual enrollment and Career and College Promise program offerings.
Participates in the development and maintenance of university articulation partnerships.
Oversees program advising including staffing of instructors to meet the needs of program enrollment.
Supervises degree audits, course substitutions, and transcript evaluations.
Mitigates student, faculty, and staff issues.
Ensures appropriate professional development opportunities for faculty and staff.
Represents the biotechnology programs internally and externally.
Ensures the development of high-performing advisory committees with representatives from pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry experts to advise and assess the activities of the department.
Collaborates with Workforce Continuing Education to foster customized training programs.
Fosters work-based learning, apprenticeship and internship opportunities for degree and non-degree
students.
Coordinates with Career and Employment Resources to ensure appropriate and abundant career development opportunities and preparedness for employment.
BioNetwork Capstone Center (49%) Director Responsibilities
* Oversees the BioNetwork Capstone Center staff, facilities, operations, budget development management, strategic planning, program assessment, evaluation, reporting, and other managerial duties.
*Oversees analysis, development, and success of self-support, customized, and tailored training course programs, schedules, enrollment systems, and pricing at the Capstone Center.
*Promotes, fosters, and coordinates opportunities for scheduled degree capstone experiences for area North Carolina community colleges utilizing the resources of the Capstone Center.
*Assists economic development officials in recruiting biomanufacturing companies, assessing their needs, developing appropriate training for workforce, and linking them with resource providers at local colleges across the state.
*Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with industry representatives, community college staff, the general public, and other BioNetwork stakeholders.
Develops local, regional, and state partnerships to support the biomanufacturing industry.
Assists in the identification and training of subject matter experts.
Collaborates with BioNetwork Media Development team or other BioNetwork staff to develop and disseminate promotional materials for sector courses and initiatives.
Manages and holds signature authority for contractual agreements and budgetary approvals.
Monitors industry trends and benchmark practices.
Promotes the biomanufacturing services and capabilities of BioNetwork as a significant economic development resource for North Carolina.
