Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Minimum of three years of experience in business continuity/disaster recovery planning, emergency/crisis preparedness, risk management and/or project management.

Valid North Carolina or South Carolina driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Experience utilizing cloud-based business continuity planning software such as Kuali Ready.
  • Experience in coordination of continuity and recovery operations.
  • Project Management (PMP), Emergency Management from FEMA or similar agency/authority, Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or other similar related industry certification.

Position Description

This position provides leadership for Central Piedmont’s Business Continuity Program, which is designed to support all units across the college with continuity planning.  The Director of Business Continuity is responsible for the oversight of the college's business continuity planning efforts, ensuring commitment, ownership, and accountability, while also leading risk identification, mitigation strategy development, and the establishment of effective response and recovery protocols. Additionally, the Director will support the Emergency Management program, Security, Environmental Health and Safety, and other duties assigned by the Executive Director of Business Continuity and Emergency Management and Associate Vice President of Safety and Security.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provide experienced and professional support for the implementation and maturation of a comprehensive Business Continuity program and all related systems.
     
  2. Support the implementation of a business continuity program strategy, methodology and objectives through successful execution of Business Impact Analysis (BIA), continuity plan development, and testing. 
     
  3. Lead implementation of a robust business continuity framework to ensure consistent and superior program execution across the institution. 
     
  4. Work collaboratively with key partners across all college units to ensure effective plan development, testing, and maintenance for those departments and divisions with mission-critical and critical functions. 
     
  5. Maintain a college-wide business continuity plan, unit-level continuity plans, and departmental continuity plans and ensure they are updated on a consistent, recurring basis.  
     
  6. Establish a coordinated program for training, communication, testing and exercising of plans; direct the continuous and regular validation and testing of documented business continuity plans. 
     
  7. Manage the activation of continuity plans during actual disruptions, assisting with response efforts.  
     
  8. Analyze response efforts following disruptions to identify areas for improvement in business continuity plans.  
     
  9. Other duties as assigned.

  • May be required to work weekends and/or extended hours during normal work days during real world emergencies, incidents, and/or disruptions, as well as college exercises and training events.
