Required:

  • Master's degree in education or related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Two years working in a dual enrollment position within a post-secondary institution or three years working in a counseling/advising position within a high school.
  • Two years of student services experience.

The role of the Director, Career and College Promise (CCP) is to develop and maintain relationships within the secondary education community; coordinate and supervise all CCP offerings ; research and compile data for various reports; provide information and assistance to faculty, staff, students and the public; advise. Serve as the student services liaison and advisor for students attending designated high schools. Supervises Early College Advisor.

The Director, CCP receives supervision from the Vice President, Student Services Enrollment Management (VP, SSEM). 
 

 

 Examples of Duties:

  • Develops/maintains relationships with high schools in service area, including traditional public schools, early colleges, private schools, charter schools and homeschool groups.
  • Ensures College is in compliance with North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) CCP regulations.
  • Supervises COA liaisons to ensure liaisons follow CCP & College guidelines/policies.
  • Reviews and updates Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) with LEAs.
  • Works with the VP, SSEM and Enrollment Management Committee to develop and implement CCP enrollment growth and management plans.
  • Assists in course schedule development.
  • Provides training to COA Liaisons and guidance counselors.
  • Leads COA Liaison meetings.
  • Maintains CCP Unit Action Plan and works with VP, SSEM, on continuous improvement processes.
  • Manages CCP budget.
  • Serves as a liaison to local high school(s) as needed
  • Represents CCP programs at recruiting events.
  • Serves as member of Enrollment Management Committee.
  • Remains current on NCCCS CCP Operating Procedures.
  • Remains current on state and national requirements and trends in dual enrollment by attending state/national conferences/workshops.
  • Coordinates CCP orientations at all campuses.
  • Coordinates with each LEA (county) to designate a Post-Secondary Liaison for in our service area who will be the single contact point in all dealings with each school for Career and College Promise (CCP) and Early College classes. The Post-Secondary Liaison is an employee of the LEA.
  • Coordinates with the COA Liaisons for timely notification of any schedule changes to ensure class interruptions are at a minimum and relays information to appropriate dean or his/her designee. Works with the Post-Secondary Liaison to ensure immediate notification of calendar and/or schedule changes/conflicts to include: closings due to inclement weather, 2-hour or 1-hour delays, homeroom, etc.
  • Coordinates visits to the high schools each semester to discuss CCP/Early College issues, concerns, changes, etc. with the Post-Secondary Liaison.
  • Coordinates with COA liaison & Early College Advisor - advising, timely registration, and enrollment process of all Career and College Promise/Early College students at all campuses, ensuring all students are registered before the first day of class.
  • Coordinates and serves on CCP Advisory Committee.
  • Serves as contact between high school personnel/parents and college instructors. Communicates to students and parents, the policies of COA.
  • Reports any behavioral problems to the Secondary Liaison.
  • Coordinates with college academic deans and LEAs to offer informational meetings for both adult and CCP CTE programs.
  • Updates and/or assists in the coordination of CT and CTE pathways
  • Maintains and keeps current CCP Handbook, CCP Enrollment Reports, and CCP Brochure as well as data for the Fact Book.
  • Creates and updates CCP PowerPoint presentation for high schools.
  • Creates and updates various CCP documents.
  • Ensures letters are sent to rising 10th and 11th graders regarding CCP opportunities. Ensure letters are sent to former and recent high school graduates who participated in CCP regarding summer opportunities.
  • Creates spreadsheet to track CCP documents for each high school
  • Ensures students are coded correctly according to classes.
  • Ensure high schools are given a list of students enrolled and classes enrolled in 1-2 days before classes start for each session (16-week, 14-week, 12-week, and first and second 8-week sessions)
  • Creates and distributes CCP Summary Report each semester
  • Collects and distributes documentation for CCP students to FTE Auditor for annual state audit.
  • Ensures currency of CCP pages on college website.
  • Provides career assessment and exploration to students.
  • Provides crisis intervention and community referrals to assist student with their personal, educational and career goals and success.
  • Provides admissions/financial aid advising and serves as academic advisor to assigned cohort of students.
  • Provides academic advising to students enrolled in technical programs.
  • Serves as liaison for Career Coach
  • Maintains a working relationship with community professionals and agencies for appropriate referrals.
  • Responds to student complaints and grievances at the informal level accordion to college policy.
  • Some evening and weekend work required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
