Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and strong proficiency in Microsoft office, AND
  • At least five years experience in Academic Advising, Career Coaching, and/or admissions
  • Must have knowledge of Learning Management Systems such as Blackboard

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (Spanish and English)
  • Community College and Datatel knowledge/experience
  • General knowledge of NCWorks Career Center operations

Job Description

This Director position is mission-critical to help optimize high-quality programming in alignment with current and future workforce needs. The Director will amplify career exploration opportunities for students by scheduling, coordinating, and facilitating instruction specific to Career & Employment Training via the Continuing Education's Human Resource Development (HRD) program, with particular focus on the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) and other assessments utilized to foster and develop resources and skills leading to employment readiness. 
 
The Director will work closely with the College's Career Center and local NCWorks Career Centers throughout the three-county region to bridge and leverage partnerships. The Director will serve to improve the student experience and maximize HRD enrollment by simplifying enrollment policies, processes, and communications. 
 
The Director reports to the Associate Dean of Workforce Development & Continuing Education.

Travel may be required through the tri-county service region

Essential Duties

The Director of Career & Employment Training is responsible for organizing, implementing, and administering all aspects of the College's Human Resource Development (HRD) programs.

 Program Development

  • Develop and implement a process for transitioning students who completed HRD courses into continuing education and curriculum programs for the purpose of obtaining and upgrading marketable job skills
  • Coordinate the development, delivery, and administration of the College's HRD initiatives, with a special emphasis on strong collaboration with CCCC's Career Center and local NCWorks Career Centers
  • Ensure that state and local reporting requirements related to the HRD Program are completed and processed appropriately
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 Program Outreach & Recruitment

  • Develop marketing tools, resources and strategies to support HRD's mission
  • Develop coordinated relationships and linkages with external agencies. The HRD program offers students the opportunity to upgrade job skills, increase economic self-sustainability, train the workforce for jobs in a changing global world, and assists students to obtain meaningful employment and training opportunities. Agencies may include, but are not limited to Department of Social Services, Employment Security Commission offices, NCWorks Career Centers, Community-Based Organizations, Day Reporting Centers (probation/parole), Housing Authority offices, and Faith-Based Organizations
  • Maintain a strong presence for HRD Programs at the CCCC Career Center and NCWorks Career Centers.  This includes, but is not limited to, the following: on-site instruction, co-location of program operations, consistent Career Center office hours, and/or HRD staff with Career staffing responsibilities
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Workforce Development & Continuing Education, the Continuing Education Operations Team, deans, department chairs and program directors to develop and implement opportunities for engagement and training with individuals in job transition, dislocated workers, unemployed workers, those WIOA eligible, unemployment insurance claimants, and anyone interested in self-improvement

 Instructional Duties

  • Serve as an instructor in HRD courses
  • Hire part-time instructors and conduct performance evaluations as necessary to ensure a quality student learning experience
  • Develop, implement, and collaborate with recruitment, admissions, assessment, advisement, and retention efforts of students
  • Complete required class visitations and evaluations for compliance purposes
  • Consult with state and local agencies to ensure training programs meet local training needs
  • Provide effective prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management practices to implement a comprehensive, holistic, and focused program on educating and training individuals for success in the workplace

 Post-training Activities

  • Provide services to students requesting assistance in finding employment or placement in further training opportunities
  • Compile and submit reports to the System Office as related to program effectiveness and student outcomes
