Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree, with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in a discipline taught within the School of Arts and Sciences
• A minimum of seven (7) years full-time teaching or the part-time equivalent at the college level
• Evidence of excellence in teaching at the college level
• Experience developing and implementing faculty professional development opportunities

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctorate in a discipline taught within the School of Arts and Sciences
• Ten (10) or more years full-time teaching or the part-time equivalent at the college level
• Experience with budget management
• Experience with web page management
• Experience with grant writing and fundraising
• Knowledge of curricular assessment theory and methods

Position Description

Job Description

The Director of The Center for Learning, Teaching, and Leadership is is a part-time, 12-month position (up to 20 hours per week) located primarily on the Old Charlotte Highway Campus in Monroe, NC. Under the direction of the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, the Director of the Center for Learning, Teaching, and Leadership is responsible for designing and managing professional development opportunities related to pedagogy, curricular assessment, and academic leadership. The successful candidate will be proactive, engaged, entrepreneurial, and a master teacher.

Job Duties

• Teach 3 credits per academic year
• Develop and maintain a resource library in best practices in teaching, learning, leadership, and curricular assessment
• Develop and manage web page content, including resources related to teaching, learning, and leadership
• Design, deliver, and arrange for workshops, consultations, and observations of faculty teaching
• Oversee the monthly Teaching Table, an annual conference, EdEx talk series, and other recurring events
• Facilitate faculty reading and study groups
• Coordinate a faculty peer-mentoring program
• Provide training and onboarding for new faculty and department chairs
• Manage the professional development budget monies
• Seek out alternative sources of funding and gifts-in-kind
• Coordinate on development opportunities with the Director of Academic Enrichment Programs, the Director of Learning Communities, and the Coordinator of Undergraduate Research
• Participate in institutional, advisory, and program/instruction committees, campus activities, and representation of the college in the community
• Provide accessibility to students and colleagues as expected in a learning-centered college
• Participate in student recruitment, retention, advising, and registration activities
• Exhibit an uncompromising commitment to SPCC as a learning-centered college through the College’s mission, vision, values, core skills and learning outcomes, and delivery of instruction and services.
