Minimum Qualifications

• Associates Degree or higher. Note: Degrees and hours must be from a college accredited by a United States Department of Education accepted accrediting agency such as SACSCOC.
• Experience in managing and controlling budgets and resources.
• 3 years of relevant work experience at a senior level or 5 years of Data Management experience.
• Advanced expertise and authoritative knowledge in their professional area. 
• Ability to contribute to service and policy development.
• Ability to provide a high-quality service responding to needs of clients within deadlines and to agreed standards.
• Receptive to new ideas, approaches, and successfully managing an environment of continuous change.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
• A Broad and detailed understanding of Forsyth Tech structures and systems, with a wider awareness of the IT industry.

Position Description

The Director position will provide highly technical Data Management expertise and will play a key role in college-wide projects and initiatives involving the auditing and management of data. The Director will lead large-scale operational projects across multiple areas of the College.

The Director will have to use creativity and initiative to independently identify solutions to a wide array of issues that may arise in Data Management. They will also be accountable for the quality of service delivery in their respective areas of responsibility, as well as be expected to contribute to the overall development of new solutions within the service area. Work typically involves assessing client needs, generating innovative solutions, and keeping respective service areas up to date with emerging industry trends. The Director will provide operational leadership and management of information technology objectives and program’s daily administration, ensuring long-term goals are aligned with College & industry best practices.

• Ensure data quality and integrity for various internal business units by creating systems, processes, tools, and capabilities that respond to their needs while supporting compliance efforts
• Be an active and strategic voice on the ITS Leadership team in supporting the college’s core mission and our data vision as it relates to its management, definition, and integrity
• Design, build, and drive strategy, methodology, and roadmaps for processes and tools required to maintain our core data assets, while building internal departmental capacity to support current and future work demands
• Work closely with internal partners to develop and create course schedules, and accurately record attendance and participation records to address the needs of our students and stakeholders
• Oversee the accuracy and development of Degree Audit information within our Student Information System (SIS)
• Responsible for overseeing the regular processing of student records to ensure college and academic policy are being applied consistently
• Assist instructional areas in schedule optimization and enhancing room/facility utilization
Communication
• Communicate both written and verbally in a clear, concise manner
• Must consider the audience of the communication and frame the message in such a way to promote understanding
• May be called on to write reports, procedures, guidelines, draft policies and present complex reports to internal and external stakeholders
• Communicate complex concepts and deliver briefings in their areas of expertise
• Develop presentations and make business cases to senior college leadership
Service Delivery
• Provide proactive, professional service to clients including initiating contact with users to understand needs and adapting services accordingly
• Accountable for the quality and professionalism of service delivery from their area of responsibility
• Develop innovative solutions to improve service quality, efficiency and continuity
• Adjust service requirements and delivery based off any relevant changes in legislation, regulations, or local policy

• Apply knowledge and skills required to solve problems in creative and innovative ways within their areas of expertise
• Apply expertise to larger, systemic issues to generate original, innovative ideas to improve operational effectiveness, implementing policy, and developing key systems
• Investigate and analyze complex information and make recommendations, conduct inquiries into complex complaints/issues, identify trends and issues
• Design, develop, adapt and test potential solutions to issues
Teamwork and Development
• Will contribute to building team morale and will be supportive of other team members
• Be flexible and proactive in delivering team results and meeting departmental, divisional, and college objectives
• Set objectives and monitor performance of individuals of the team, ensuring standards are met and enhanced
• Be involved in the training of staff members, may coach/mentor team members to enhance performance and share expertise
• Conduct performance reviews for staff and identify training needs
• May be required to train staff outside of own team on standard information, procedures, issues, or activities through demonstrations, presentations, workshops, or training sessions
• Promote diversity and inclusion within own team and across the college
Planning/Organizing
• Plan, organize, and manage individual/team activities being sure that long-term issues are coordinated with other departments and divisions, in addition to aligning with the operational and strategic goals of the college
• Manage resources and budgets allocated for projects and within the department; make recommendations about future resource requirements
• Play a key role or lead large-scale college/department projects to facilitate service or operational changes
• Provide input and guidance to the long-term strategic plans of the ITSdivision
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Strong verbal and written skills and command of the English language.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra
REASONING ABILITY:
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
