Position Description
This position provides leadership, management, and support within the College and Career Readiness (CCR) department. Leads the College's initiatives related to the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). Serves as primary point of contact for WIOA, Tarheel ChalleNGe Academy (TCA), and Stanly County Schools (SCS) for CCR-related communication. Assumes responsibility for activities related to the collection, recording, analyzing, and reporting of Literacy Education Information System (LEIS); centralized submission of course management records; and provides leadership for student success in collaboration with CCR staff for retention, recruitment, and progression.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Develops, plans, implements, and administers goals and objectives of the assigned area with the AVP’s approval.
- Establishes annual recruitment and retention goals and steps to achieve each.
Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)
- Leads and manages curriculum development for career contextualized instruction aligned to the national College and Career Readiness Standard and consistent with directives of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). Serves as the primary point of contact for WIOA initiatives.
- Monitors and supports staff and faculty in the delivery of revised curriculum aligned to the national CCR standards and consistent with directives for the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).
- Works collaboratively with curriculum programs, continuing education programs, NC Works, Vocational Rehabilitation, and other WIOA required partners in the design and delivery of instructional services consistent with NCWorks Certified Career Pathways (CCP) and the local Basic Skills Programs Plan.
Tarheel ChalleNGe Academy (TCA)
- Serves as the primary point of contact and liaison for the Tarheel ChalleNGe Academy (TCA). Coordinate meetings and sharing of information with the College and TCA.
- Prepares the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) annual revisions and presents updates to the Director. Ensures all MOU items are implemented and consistent with the SBCCC and NCCCS’ requirements.
Stanly County Schools (SCS)
- Prepare diplomas for adult high school graduates and obtain needed signatures.
- Provide documentation to SCS as needed for students who enrolled after leaving SCS.
LEIS RELATED:
- Runs and distributes new CCR reports due to Advansys upgrades.
- Directs the collection, review, recording, and analysis process of LEIS submissions; initiates necessary improvements and /or training for faculty and staff.
- Coordinates with IT staff to develop and produce reports on an established schedule.
- Ensures that Adult High School (AHS) Credits are accurate; verifies Adult High School (AHS) and High School Equivalency (HSE) graduates and manages the workflow for diploma and certificate creation.
- Oversees the collection of LEIS data and reviews for accuracy. Analyzes data to ensure vital statistics are captured in accordance with funding benchmarks. Prepares quarterly reports based on established. schedule. Responds to inquiries from state officials and submits required documentation and reports.
- Performs analysis of LEIS placements, goals, and outcomes in accordance with the National Reporting System and guidelines from the State of North Carolina. Summarizes data for management and other administrators to monitor and assess CCR programs. Implements necessary adjustments based on analysis.
SUPERVISION
- Supervises, supports, evaluates, and provides leadership for all College and Career Readiness staff and faculty.
- Maintains regular communication with CCR staff and faculty daily regarding curriculum development process, implementation, and delivery.
- Ensures that the Student Handbook and Instructor Guide are kept up to date and are distributed to and reviewed by the students and faculty.
- Ensures that the CCR Academic Calendar is updated and maintained.
- Provides orientation for new hires. Coordinates and provides training for professional development for all instructors and staff in CCR.
- Assess professional development needs of faculty and staff to ensure they remain current on evidence-based practices; provide tools and support for faculty and staff to monitor and analyze student success and initiate program improvement strategies.
STUDENT PROGRESSION AND RETENTION
- Monitor student progression and work with the appropriate CCR staff and faculty to ensure students who are not meeting CCR's progression policy are addressed.
- Actively searches for grant opportunities to support area initiatives.
- Directs the writing of the yearly Basic Skills Programs Plan - Continuation Funding document and other required grant documents.
- Handles student discipline issues.
STUDENT OUTREACH AND RECRUITMENT
- Develops and implements a CCR Marketing, Recruitment, and Retention Plan. Provides the College’s Leadership quarterly report on the progress of the plan, noting areas of growth and decline with an appropriate action plan to address continual growth and ways to prevent further decline.
- Works with the Marketing and Outreach staff and prepares marketing materials and literature for distribution to potential students.
- Leads CCR and actively participates in student outreach and recruitment efforts.
- Advises CCR staff and College leadership regarding nationally recognized retention best practices and develops strategies for implementation.
- Attend meetings, conferences, and training sessions as required.
- Serve on college committees.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
