Minimum Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree.

· NRS-recognized teaching credential or the ability to earn an NRS credential within two years of hire.

· Minimum of two (2) years of experience teaching adult learners.

· Experience working directly with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

· Effective written and oral communication skills.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

· Experience utilizing online learning platforms and/or Learning Management Systems.

· Proven ability to deal effectively, cooperatively, and tactfully with students, faculty, staff, and administrators.

· Demonstrated ability to cultivate a collegial, collaborative environment.

· Personal and professional integrity, which communicates a sense of mission, leadership, and ability to self-start.

Preferred Qualifications

· Master’s degree in Education or related field.

· Experience supervising and managing personnel.

· Evidence of a career that involves:

Position Description

Job Description

The Compass Education (CE) Director is a full-time, 12-month position located primarily on the OCH Campus in Monroe, NC. Under the direction of the Dean of the School of College and Career Readiness, the CE Director provides leadership and supervision for the development, implementation, and evaluation of CE programming across the service area.

Job Duties

· Initiate, research, and provide assistance in the development, sequencing, implementation, and evaluation of curricula and educational materials used in the CE program.

· Manage, inventory, and maintain learning materials and instructional resources.

· Facilitate learning through the development and delivery of traditional, virtual, and flexible learning opportunities.

· Select, onboard, supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate full and part-time CE staff and instructors.

· Assist with the oversight and maintenance of accurate student, instructor, class, and program documentation.

· Develop and implement transitional pathway models for program participants.

· Manage program marketing efforts.

· Develop and facilitate professional development opportunities for faculty and staff.

· Provide a minimum of 12 hours of instruction per week and be available as an instructional substitute, as needed.

· Monitor placement and student follow-up for retention purposes.

· Participate in developing recommendations for the department budget, including forecasting anticipated budgetary needs for staffing, equipment, and supplies.

· Direct, coordinate, and participate in short and long-range planning; conduct research and surveys to determine current effectiveness and future needs; and prepare reports and plans.

· Assist in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating of department programs/courses and the goals and objectives as they relate to SPCC’s Strategic Plan.

· Attend and participate in staff and agency meetings and relevant professional development opportunities.

· Actively participate in College committees and activities.

· Identify and develop partnerships to expand CE programming to appropriate community or industry sites.

· Participate in grant prospecting, authoring, editing, evaluation, and reporting.

· Oversee program-specific grants.

· Demonstrate a high-level of professionalism, innovation, collaboration, and institutional commitment in all actions.

· Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of College and Career Readiness.
