Position Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:  

Under the supervision of the Dean of Continuing Education and Workforce Development, the Director, Cosmetology Licensure Programs will manage, supervise, and promote occupational extension courses leading to certification and/or licensure.  In addition, the director will oversee self-supporting initiatives as assigned.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Manage Esthetics, Manicurist, Massage, and Natural Hair Care courses
  • Ensure adherence to all state board regulations
  • Monitors first time test taker pass rates and recommends program improvements when necessary
  • Responsible for scheduling courses and hiring qualified instructors for designed program area
  • Evaluates the performance of instructors and provides coaching for performance improvement
  • Develop a marketing plan each semester to achieve the goals and objectives of the department
  • Work with staff and instructors to ensure a high performance, customer service-oriented work environment which supports the goals of Continuing Education, Economic & Workforce Development
  • Works closely with the College’s marketing department in order to implement a strategy that aligns with the objectives of  Continuing Education, Economic & Workforce Development
  • Provide instruction to students on occasion

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Equivalent combination of education, training, license, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position
  • NC Cosmetology License with Instructor Certification
