Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Data Analytics, Business Administration, Computer Science, or equivalent experience in data analytics
Three years of experience leading cross-functional teams in a large-scale Data & Analytics program at an enterprise level
Four years of supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferences
MBA or Master’s degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, or IT related field
Experience advocating for the value of data analytics across an enterprise
Experience with higher education institutions
Position Description
The Director of Data Analytics/Chief Data Officer is a senior level executive who bears responsibility on behalf of the organization to foster value creation from data. This position is accountable for the institution’s information assets including a data governance structure, providing critical information for decision making, performing data analytics and trend analyses, and creation of reports for College leadership and external entities at the local, state, and federal levels.
Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)

*Leads the creation of a college-wide data analytics vision and strategy in collaboration with senior executives to ensure consistent definitions and application of data in supporting the College’s goals and priorities.
*Improves the organization’s capacity to develop insights with advanced analytics.
*Develops and leads a data governance program for the institution that includes the creation and administration of policies, procedures, and standards regarding the management, quality, accountability, and security of the College’s data.
*Champions data literacy and promotes a culture of data analytics as an important component in establishing a vision for decision making in the organization.
*Provides data analytics models for making strategic and tactical decisions at the College level while maintaining integrity of all information assets.
*Expands the College’s research and analytics platform focusing on new, emerging, and innovative approaches in supporting a more robust digital business model.
*Identifies and integrates internal and external data sources to provide additional quality and cost-effectiveness for enhanced analytics and innovation throughout the College.
*Develops and maintains appropriate quality controls to ensure use of data analytics is within acceptable levels of risk for the College.
*Ensures data used for reporting to local, state, and federal entities is accurate, reliable, traceable, timely, consistent, and secure.
*Develops appropriate security, privacy, and legal controls to ensure integrity of data at the institution level.
Develops, coaches, and leads the data and analytics team.
Creates and delivers presentations to senior level executives.
Completes an annual applied benchmark project on an individual or group basis as required.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong leadership skills and ability to work effectively with college leaders and IT engineering, operations, and support staff
Knowledge of data architecture principles, methods, data modelling, and data management tools
Demonstrated experience of creating business value using data analytics
Commitment to delivering superior customer service and team-oriented management style
Knowledge and understanding of current and developing data use, research, and strategic requirements of an institution of higher learning
Strong analytical, project management and team-oriented interpersonal skills
Proven knowledge of current trends and developments in information technology
Experience developing departmental policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines
Excellent skills in public speaking, presentation creation and delivery to a wide variety of audiences, including the College’s executive leadership
Ability to provide strategic guidance in the assessment and development of existing and/or proposed technology solutions
Skilled in organizing resources and establishing priorities
Demonstrated ability to work across business lines at a senior level to influence and effect change to achieve common goals
