Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, required
- Instruction in educational theory and methodology, e.g., curriculum development, educational psychology, test construction, measurement and evaluation, required
- Dental Assisting National Board Certified Dental Assistant or Dentist licensed to practice in the state of North Carolina, required
- Occupational experience in the application of fourhanded dentistry principles, either as a dental assistant or working with a chairside assistant, required

Position Description
Statement of Primary Purpose
In support of the overall Learning College, the Director will coordinate the Dental Assisting Program located in Polk County, North Carolina.
Supervises Directly
Dental Assisting Adjunct Faculty
Essential Responsibilities
- Recruit, orientate, and advise students in the Dental Assisting program
- Recruit, schedule, advise, and evaluate Dental Assisting adjunct instructors
- Direct support staff
- Organize and administer all details of the program to ensure quality instruction
- Develop course outlines and teaching materials based on the state curriculum standards and make changes to the curriculum as needed
- Help complete and maintain planning and assessment documents
- Provide instruction in a variety of dental assisting courses in the program
- Maintain a current up-to-date inventory of all dental equipment, ensuring proper dissemination of such equipment as needed throughout the dental assisting schedule
- Maintain correspondence with the Commission on Dental Accreditation to establish and maintain program approval
- Collaborate with Mountain Area Regional Health Education (MAHEC) partners in maintaining relationship/partnership
- Schedule use of program facilities
- Budget preparation and fiscal administration
- Other duties as assigned

- Understand and use the principles of effective teaching
- Working skills and knowledge of all Dental Assisting subjects
- Ability to develop good teacher-student-instructor relationship
- Administration and supervision ability of personnel and resources
