Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, computer science or a related field and two (2) years of experience in instruction and technical support of a learning management system; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Education, Instructional Technologies, Distance Education, Instructional Design or a comparable field with 18 graduate hours in courses related to educational technologies; Certified or credentialed in Distance Education program planning, design, and/or instruction; Experienced with creating multimedia content for instruction or training; Experienced with the instructor or system administrator interface of the Blackboard learning management system; Two or more years, demonstrated success providing services and/or support for Distance Education faculty and/or students. Supervisory experience of academic support staff in post-secondary education.

Position Description

The Director provides leadership for Distance Education services and initiatives, instructional systems support, and related faculty professional development at the college. The Director collaborates with instructional administrators to promote best practices in instructional delivery, to meet compliance standards, to develop Distance Education courses and programs, to monitor and assess quality of Distance Education courses, and to support instructional design, development, and training. The Director is responsible for budget management and operational reports for the unit(s) assigned, and provides direct supervision to professional and administrative support staff assigned to the unit(s). This is a 12 month, full-time position that reports to the Associate Vice-President, Academic Support.
