  • Master’s degree from accredited institution.
  • 10 years of teaching experience with on-line and blended courses.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work effectively and collegially with others.
  • Ability to use productivity software, including a general knowledge of word processors and spreadsheets, the ability to send and receive email, and to complete and submit electronic forms.
  • Employees are expected to perform essential computer skills (log on/off a computer, manage and organize files, print/scan forms using a copier, maintain and recall secure passwords and change password(s) routinely per College procedures).
  • Ability to think critically in order to process information, analyze data, make assessments, and exercise good judgment to make decisions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Position Description

Provides leadership and administrative oversight for eLearning. Administers the College Learning Management System (LMS) and establishes procedures for its effective operation and use. Assists in developing and implementing strategies to address course quality in distance education. Works with faculty and staff to promote distance education and alternative distance learning delivery methods, providing training were necessary. Participates in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of online and blended courses. Seeks out new technologies and provides support to students and faculty with software and systems related to the LMS and distance learning.

  1. Administer the College LMS and all associated systems and functions.
  2. Supervise and evaluate the performance of the Instructional Design Coordinator.
  3. Chair the eLearning Committee that is tasked with reviewing, creating and recommending policies, procedures and practices to promote the strategic, high-quality, and sustainable growth and delivery of eLearning at CCC that fosters academic excellence, equity and student success.
  4. Provide and maintain LMS templates, instructions, documentation, orientation materials and performs other duties related to the College LMS.
  5. Coordinate the creation and maintenance of LMS instructor and staff accounts, create course shells as requested outside the automated process, and troubleshoot user enrollment issues.
  6. Coordinate course management system server configurations and repairs, version updates and downtime; manage course removal and archiving processes.
  7. Maintain the web-presence of the eLearning and IT Department, and work with other departments to implement Sharepoint sites for intranet and public access.
  8. Develop and maintain adequate documentation on critical processes related to the LMS and other integrated software platforms.
  9. Provide specialized support to facilitate the use of the LMS for non-credit course offerings.
  10. Serve as representative and campus administrator for the North Carolina Virtual Learning Community, NC-NET, NCLOR.
  11. Serve as the campus liaison for state authorization and maintain website disclosures for NC-SARA and SARA-NC; monitor and maintain a report of out-of-state online students; ensure state authorization audit and reporting procedures are in compliance as they apply to eLearning courses and programs.
  12. Prepare and submit eLearning data and/or reports to the Chief Information Officer, the NC community college system, accrediting bodies, and other agencies as required.
  13. Coordinate with other colleges on NCIH agreement processes and scheduling as requested.
  14. Assist with selection, installation, maintenance, and evaluation of third-party software that interacts with the LMS, designing and implementing trials and training as needed.
  15. Research and evaluate instructional technology tools for possible adoption to meet emerging needs and provide planning, implementation and support resources for adopted tools.
  16. Coordinate and/or facilitate the design and implementation of all training from the IT Department to faculty staff for professional development, and to students as necessary.
  17. Assist faculty in the design, development, and enhancement of online and blended courses using instructional media and distance education applications.
  18. Assist in the instructional design/redesign and evaluation process in distance education utilizing best practices and available evaluation tools/rubrics. (e.g., In-House Quality Course Initiative and Quality Matters)
  19. Coordinate planning, delivery and evaluation of the College’s MIT class. (required course/training for all faculty)
  20. Assist with employee training and support for compliance of distance learning resources and activities with ADA/Sections 504 and 508.
  21. Collaborate with disability services, instructional services and other areas as needed to help ensure all students can access online instructional and support resources.
  22. Communicate with Academic Deans and the Vice-President of Academic Programs on issues related to the LMS and other eLearning technologies.
  23. Collaborate with appropriate personnel to develop and implement long-range plans and strategies for eLearning support.
  24. Serve on the Information Technology Committee and other college committees or taskforces as assigned.
  25. Participate in professional development activities, and perform other duties as assigned.
