- Master’s degree in organizational development/organizational behavior, curriculum and instruction, instructional design or related field or equivalent combination of education or experience.
Experience Required
- 5-10 years of proven, results-oriented experience as a learning and engagement leader, training manager or comparable experience.
Preferred Qualifications

- Professional certification(s) for example SHRM, HRCI, etc.
Experience Preferred
- 5 years of proven, results-oriented experience in one or more of the human resources disciplines.
- Training and development experience in an educational setting.
Position Description
Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) is currently the fourth largest of N.C. Community College System’s 58 institutions. On our six campuses and through our online offerings, we annually serve approximately 27,500 students. We are looking for a strategic, innovative, and transformational leader for our Director of Employee Development and Engagement position to join our team and operationalize our institutional mission, vision, and values to build our learning community further.
The Director of Employee Development and Engagement plans, advises senior leaders and managers, recommending efficient and cost-effective solutions for identified challenges with the support of a training coordinator, whom he/she supervises. The position is responsible for managing and supporting the assessment of organizational development needs to inform the design, implementation and evaluation of programs that facilitate the professional development and continuous learning of College staff, including emerging leaders. To this end, the position develops, implements and administers development and training initiatives for the College’s departments, teams and employees in support of the strategic plan. Initiatives may include providing the College and its leadership with a range of consultation services and initiatives for employee engagement, professional development, intervention, and implementation of key strategies designed to support talent management and staff/faculty development in alignment with the College’s goals. The position works to develop, direct, source, coordinate and deliver a comprehensive professional development program that enhances skill levels of employees and strengthens employee qualifications in keeping with the mission and goals of the College. The Director also is responsible for the organization’s engagement strategy and creates and manages programs designed to foster it with the aim of supporting a positive work and learning environment.
