Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent specialized financial aid credentials, and four to ten years of related experience are required. Master’s degree and knowledge of accounting are preferred. Problem solving skills, skill in the use of technology and student information systems, and experience with reporting to regulatory bodies are required. Substantive experience with staff training and supervision is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.

Position Description
Alamance Community College seeks a student-focused, analytical, high-energy leader of its financial aid program who will work with the financial aid team and with other colleagues to strengthen student access and success in the College. The director manages and supervises all aspects of the financial aid department, ensuring compliance with federal/state laws and regulations and with institutional policies and processes. The Financial Aid Director reports to the Vice President of Student Success.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
- Develop, direct, and supervise financial aid processes for the timely and effective awarding of all federal, state, and institutional aid.
- Implement and ensure compliance activities such as R2T4 and internal auditing processes.
- Lead the annual “set-up” of the financial aid module in the Colleague student information system.
- Hire, train, and supervise financial aid personnel regarding financial aid policies and procedures; arrange appropriate staff development and training; sustain an environment of teamwork and customer service.
- Formulate policies and procedures as needed for new or revised financial aid programs and activities.
- Provide accurate and timely applications and required reports related to financial aid such as FISAP.
- Use “Informer” to create reports and analyses needed for data based decision-making.
- Support student recruitment and retention through financial aid outreach programs and financial literacy counseling to current and prospective students.
- Provide excellent customer service and financial aid advising of students and their families.
- Work closely with the ACC Foundation to award several hundred Foundation scholarships annually.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge regarding financial aid guidelines and requirements by attending professional development and training opportunities.
- Serve as the point of contact for third parties that provide software and other support to the financial aid department.
