Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience including managerial in finance, accounting, or related operations, or three years in the North Carolina Community College System, Community College business offices’ operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business or related field.
- Experience in planning and budgeting at the organizational level, particularly in higher education.
- Demonstrated experience in addressing and developing complex institutional budgetary priorities and needs.
- Proficient in accounting, statistical analysis, revenue forecasting, financial modeling, project modeling, and business plan development.
- Three years of full-time supervisory experience working in various operations of higher education finance, financial reporting, fund, and payroll accounting, or equivalent finance industry experience.
Position Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise activities relating to payroll, payables, receivables, cashiering, student accounts, and purchasing.
- Ensure that the daily operations/functions of the Business Office are efficient, accurate, and timely.
- Coordinate the development and maintenance of policies, regulations, and procedures that relate to the areas of accounting and fiscal responsibility.
- Ensure the establishment of appropriate internal controls and that they are followed, responsible for the campus EAGLE process with the assistance of the campus internal control committee.
- Assist in the coordination, development, and preparation of the College budget in accordance with college goals, work with individuals responsible for budgetary units and with the President’s Cabinet in the development of the budget.
- Monitor expenditures to ensure that budget limits are maintained. Work with budgetary units and the administrative team to make budget adjustments and reclassifications as needed.
- Provide monthly budget reports and explain budget balances (budget analysis).
- Reconcile Institutional and County Funds bank statements monthly, including marking cleared checks.
- Review and help maintain college contracts, licenses, permits, and insurance.
- Monitor all grants and work with grant owners throughout the college to ensure expenditures and budget are correct.
- Manage budget and accounting for Capital Improvement projects.
- Coordinate the request/purchase of equipment, supplies, and properties for the college, in collaboration with the divisions and departments of the college.
- Compile the necessary information needed to complete the financial reports for fiscal year end, including CAFR, financial statements, and any other NCCCS year-end requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Administrative and Fiscal Services.
