Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Registered Nurse (with an unencumbered license) licensed to practice in North Carolina
  • Must be able to become certified by NC Dept of Health & Human Services as Nurse Aide I Program Coordinator
  • Five years of work experience in a provision of long term care facility or supervise or teaching students in a long term care facility.
  • Good communication skills, oral and written.
  • Be able to attend recruitment events to market program.
  • Experience teaching allied Health Course with CEWD
  • Office environment experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree or higher in Nursing or Certified Nurse Practitioner.
  • Community College experience and or Teaching experience at University level.

Position Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Director of Healthcare Education plans, coordinates, and overseas the administration and quality delivery of the healthcare classes in the Continuing Education and Workforce Development department.  Additionally, this position is responsible for providing coordination or support or other occupational extension course areas as assigned by the Dean of Continuing Education and Workforce Development.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adhere to all rules and regulations provided by NCCS, NC Division of Health Service Regulations, and Board of Nursing for Health care programs.
  • Develop new courses, curriculum and syllabus based on assessment of current healthcare training needs throughout the service area.
  • Evaluate occupational and market trends, and benchmark successful course and programs at other institutions, to develop ideas for potentially successful courses.
  • Work collaboratively and closely with Health Care Facilities, Coordinators, and Department of Nursing to foster opportunities to provide business-specific and /or customized continuing education and curriculum degree programs.
  • Strategically develop classes for continuing education schedules, and seek opportunities to provide business-specific and/or customized continuing education classes.
  • Develop contracts and agreements for placement options in the required clinical and field of experience.
  • Actively market courses.
  • Actively recruit knowledgeable and effective Agency approved instructors for existing and potential classes, while adhering to BCC’s HR hiring process.
  • Process all course related paperwork (including instructor contracts, attendance rosters, timesheets and all other related documentation) and submit to the registrar in a timely manner.
  • Submit and compile documentation to appropriate agencies for audit review.
  • Visit classes in compliance with the Accountability and Visitation plan.
