Bachelor’s degree technology, education, or health sciences field.

Knowledge and Skills    

Four years’ experience in teaching, higher education administration, instructional design/technology, or professional experience in a healthcare field.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in education, instructional technology, or related field preferred.

Position Description

Statement of Primary Purpose

Plan, organize, and direct health care simulation teaching and learning activities in simulation and program labs. Provide leadership in attaining and maintaining national accreditation of the Health Sciences Simulation Labs.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff, students, vendors and administration.

• Identify and implement guidelines for maintaining simulation labs in accordance with best practices.

• Provide simulation orientations for health sciences faculty and staff.

• Provide administrative leadership for health simulation learning including, goal setting, planning, budgeting, and equipment control.

• Provide training and professional development recommendations to assist faculty in developing and maintaining knowledge of simulation equipment and practices

• Mentor and support to faculty, instructors, and staff in the use of simulation equipment. This includes operating and maintaining audio-visual and debriefing systems, operating cameras, low-fidelity and high-fidelity manikins, and surrounding equipment

• Enter information into Gaumard, CAE, etc software to create simulations for simulated clinical and testing

• Lead efforts to attain and maintain simulation lab national accreditation Develop and maintain usage schedules for simulation labs

• Perform pre-simulation activities including ensuring all simulation equipment is properly functioning, programming patient scenarios, and preparing scenario props

• Coordinate efforts with other faculty and staff to prepare for testing and simulation scenarios.

• Promote and support collaborative simulation learning activities across health sciences disciplines

• Partner with area healthcare providers to identify and facilitate continuing education training opportunities using SCC’s simulation labs

• Work both independently and as part of a team within health sciences division

• Provide direct supervision of the Simulation Technician position

• Engage in training on high-fidelity manikin software systems (travel may be required)

• Engage in training on CAE software (travel may be required)

• Provide recommendations on equipment, supplies and materials; and assists with other special projects or initiatives as needed

• Assist with inventory of supplies and equipment

• Collaborate with Information Technology to maintain a stable technological learning environment including but not limited to planning for future upgrades, as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

Physical Demands          

Typical campus environment; ability travel between campuses and partner locations.

 

Licensing Requirement

Valid NC driver’s license

 

Working Conditions and Environment

Ability to accommodate a flexible working schedule. Limited travel within service area.

 

Equipment Operation

Simulation technologies including high fidelity mannequins, healthcare trainers and equipment, cameras, PC, associated instructional and business applications.
