Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required in an art-related field. A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a ceramic’s studio or art related venue. Possess an understanding of and commitment to heritage art crafts and the importance of maintaining their legacy in our region.

Position Description
Position Description:
The Director is responsible for developing and managing heritage-related programs with the goal of preserving and proliferating such crafts in our region. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: teaching pottery classes, coordinating personal enrichment classes, developing strategic partnerships, and managing the instructional supplies and equipment. On a day-to-day basis, the director is an instructor and facilitator for the overall operation of the Heritage Crafts programs. On a broader scope, the director has the responsibility for finding and/or establishing new program offerings, including but not limited to, equipment acquisition, allocation of material and supply funds, travel, program publicity and recruitment, and contact with schools and other external agencies.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the activities of the programs and services.
- Provide classroom instruction.
- Facilitate and approve new courses/programs.
- Coordinate faculty teaching assignments.
- Recommend faculty for employment, reappointment, probation, and termination.
- Orient new faculty and staff.
- Implement and interpret institutional, divisional, and program policies.
- Facilitate interactions between the division and other agencies in the community.
- Monitor FTE and self-support revenue production of courses and programs.
- Coordinate student recruitment for art-related courses and programs.
- Maintain adequate records and disburse information.
- Make initial recommendations on requests for travel, textbooks, leaves, and purchases.
- Maintain divisional budgets.
- Prepare reports using divisional data as requested.
- Perform other duties as determined by the Dean of Continuing Education.
he Director of Heritage Craft Programs must be able to communicate with staff, faculty, students, and the community effectively. The director must be able to design and implement courses and programs based on industry demand and community requests. The director must possess or develop relationships with local art-related entrepreneurs and entities working toward the same goal of preservation and proliferation of the heritage arts.
