Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is Human Resources, or a related field is required
  • minimum of five years' experience in higher education Human Resources leadership and/or equivalent combination of education and experience with a demonstrated competence in organizational design and development
  • Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification is preferred
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • ability to work in a congenial and professional manner with students, faculty, and staff
  • working knowledge of federal and state labor laws; including Equal Employment Opportunity regulations, is required

Preferred Qualifications

Position Description

Plan, develop, implement and manage a Human Resources department that actively supports the College's mission. The Director of Human Resources & Title IX Coordinator is responsible for all employment policy and benefits, recruitment, professional development, equal opportunity, and the compensation structure and job classification programs for the College.

  • develop and implement policies and procedures; recommend changes to administration as needed
  • direct the College's health, retirement and supplemental benefit programs
  • lead the comprehensive recruitment program assuring that qualified employees are hired for all College positions
    • including maintaining a selection and onboarding process that is compliant with federal, state and local employment law and is consistent in application with all posted positions
  • administer the compensation and job classification program
  • oversee the performance management program
  • interpret, communicate and ensure legal compliance with state and federal regulations
    • investigate employee complaints and participate in the documentation and recording of meetings
    • represent the College at hearings, as necessary
  • support administration with a variety of employee relation matters including the interpretation and application of policies and procedures
  • prepare and maintain budget for the Human Resources Office
  • prepare and submit all federal, state and community college reports as required
  • maintains professional certification in Title IX investigation and resolution procedures, and, provides training and awareness to Deputy Title IX Coordinator and other Title IX investigators
  • partners with the College's 504/ADA Coordinator to ensure compliance with all student and employee accommodation requests and reporting requirements
  • provide professional development workshop, training and seminar coordination to all Vice-Presidents, Deans and Directors
  • provide leadership, guidance and direction to the Human Resource staff
  • serve as the Equal Employment Officer and Ethics Liaison with the State of NC Ethics Board
  • partners with the 504/ADA Coordinator to ensure all employee and student disability accommodations are responded to and compliant with the American's with Disabilities Act
  • participates on various College committees and special projects as assigned
  • directs the employee recognition program
  • manage the Worker's Compensation program
  • presents human resources updates to the board of trustees as needed/requested
  • perform other related duties as directed
