Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent academic and industry preparation 
  • Demonstrated experience in information security administration, network management, and systems administration
  • Current technical skills as evidenced by industry-recognized IT certifications
  • Supervisory experience
  • Previous experience in educational environment is preferred

Position Description

The Director of IT reports to the Vice President of Finance and Auxiliary Services and serves as the College’s chief information officer and the liaison with the IT leadership of the NCCCS and other supporting state offices. The Director serves as the technical lead and supervisor of the College’s IT staff, oversees all campus technology needs including records management, student information systems, telecommunications, networking services, educational technologies, information security, all campus hardware and technology equipment, software, service agreements, contracts for cloud-based resources, and general institutional technology and information system operations. The Director provides technical support to distance learning staff in the operation of learning management systems and public information staff in the operation of the College’s website and social media accounts.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage all campus IT operations consistent with industry best-practices
  • Supervise IT staff
  • Provide and manage helpdesk services
  • Manage IT budget and administer related contracts
  • Review all requests for software and hardware
  • Administer and manage all College telephone hardware and services
  • Responsible for ensuring College network security
  • Ensure appropriate use of resources by students, staff, and faculty
  • Provide ongoing training to college staff and faculty
  • Provide professional training and mentoring of IT staff
  • Develop, maintain, and effectively communicate technology policies and procedures
  • Continually improve IT operations through performance evaluation
  • Serve as a technical advisory in support of departmental and committee initiatives
  • Perform other professional and job-related duties as assigned
