Position Description

Statement of Primary Purpose

In support of the overall Learning College, the Director of Institutional Assessment and Accreditation is responsible to direct the development and implementation of a comprehensive program to enhance institutional effectiveness and ensure compliance with all accreditation guidelines.

Essential Responsibilities

  1. Accreditation and Accountability
    1. Responsible for monitoring Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) compliance guidelines and educating college faculty and staff regarding compliance issues
    2. Supervise and manage the preparation and distribution of reports to meet local, state, regional and national requirements and ensure SACs compliance
    3. Coordinate all related committees of faculty, administration, and staff to address issues of SACS reaffirmation and compliance issues
    4. Manage and coordinate the improvement plans and assessment reports related to student achievement initiatives, including the development and implementation of the Quality Enhancement Plans
  2. Research and data collection
    1. Direct the collection, analysis, and reporting of assessment data
    2. Coordinate efforts to identify and collect data related to student learning outcomes and the use of such information for the improvement of instructional and service areas
  3. Assessment and Continuous Improvement
    1. Plan and implement program review and work collaboratively with faculty and staff to guide and implement an effective program review process
    2. Communicate the purpose and intent of institutional assessment plans
    3. Implement and monitor the systematic review of programs and services in support of the college mission and strategic plan
    4. Assists faculty, staff, and administrators in establishing performance measures to assess their effectiveness
  4. Strategic Planning
    1. Assist the President and Vice President with the Strategic Planning Process
    2. Analyze findings from assessment data and make recommendations to President’s Council regarding strategic planning or continuous improvement needs
    3. Work collaboratively with President’s Council and college administrators to monitor strategic planning process and to provide information needed for successful implementation of strategic plan
    4. Prepare, maintain, and update strategic planning materials
  5. Management
    1. Develop and manage all SACS, Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), Research and Planning budgets
    2. Work with webmaster to develop and maintain information on website to inform all stakeholders of relevant accreditation, assessment and strategic planning information
    3. Supervise assigned employees
  6. Other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

  1. Develop an understanding and appreciation of the mission, history, current programs, services and goals of Isothermal Community College
  2. Knowledge of practices, theories and concepts related to collecting, analyzing, interpreting and presenting research information and data
  3. Knowledge of administration of higher education institution and accreditation requirements and guidelines
  4. Demonstrated understanding of current and successful strategic and operational planning models.
  5. Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret and present data
  6. Demonstrated ability to be self-directed with ability to organize and set priorities
  7. Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, administration and community members in soliciting and utilizing meaningful input
  8. Ability to work effectively with people of varying levels of education and diverse backgrounds
  9. Ability to work in a team environment
  10. Experience editing and proofreading, with the ability to produce high-quality materials while adhering to multiple deadlines
  11. Strong writing, analytical, organization and research skills
  12. Strong communication skills
