Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution with 7 - 10 years’ experience with project management, research, and/or data analysis

OR

  • Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution with 3 - 5 years’ experience with project management, research, and/or data analysis

AND

  • Data retrieval and business analysis experience with communicating results for project management in a complex environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in information technology, quantitative research, or a field related to institutional effectiveness that includes knowledge of research methods, statistics, and databases
  • Ability to manipulate and analyze large datasets and supplement informational reporting through the use of Statistical Analysis Software and familiarity with SQL, Informer, or other technological tools utilized in institutional research, i.e., integrated databases, data mining software, statistical packages, visualization software, etc.
  • Project management experience demonstrating proficiency in organizing and handling multiple, complex tasks
  • Three years’ experience providing support within an institutional research unit in an academic setting, preferably with experience administering Ellucian (Datatel) Colleague and enterprise planning and assessment systems or with knowledge of regional accreditation standards and processes
  • Community College Experience
  • Supervisory experience to include coaching and mentoring employees in achieving the institution’s mission and their individual professional goals

Experience in training or classroom education of adults

Position Description

Provide collaborative leadership for data-informed continuous improvement for the College.  Perform a variety of duties necessary to ensure the College is meeting all obligations for the principles of accreditation core requirement of Institutional Planning and the standards of Quality Enhancement Plan and Administrative Effectiveness in support of the institutional mission, vision, priorities, and strategic plan.   Ensure the accuracy and completeness of data and the relevance of informational reports released by the Office of Institutional Effectiveness. 

This position serves to manage IRB processes for the institution and acts as a Co-Director of the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide leadership and vision for the role and use of information, data, and research in planning and decision-making for the College
  • Supervise the Assistant, Institutional Effectiveness
  • Prepare detailed professional reports on a routine basis through the collection, compilation, and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data
  • Provide timely and responsive customer service, including through diligent communication with College stakeholders
  • Develop and participate in a professional development plan that facilitates effective interpersonal relationships and technical competency in new and existing data tools, applications, and resources (Microsoft Office Suite, Ellucian (Datatel) Colleague, assessment software such as Campus Labs, and other software applications, ATD, AACC Pathways Project) as required for planning, assessment, data management, and institutional effectiveness

DUTIES:

Manage the data reporting environment at the College:

  • Collaborate with College leadership to identify data analysis needs and develop an interpretation and reporting framework to fulfill the requirements of those needs
  • Create and maintain a centralized institutional research data warehouse
  • Compile, analyze, and transform comparative and longitudinal data into informational reports that enable others to make data informed decisions and to enable program/unit supervisors to assess and make improvements based on learning, service, and departmental planning evidence
  • Analyze tracking reports of the impact of various Student Success initiatives based on data supporting state-wide performance measures, other key performance indicators, and SCC’s Strategic Plan.
  • Develop, maintain, and disseminate to College stakeholders standardized institutional effectiveness reports and ad hoc institutional reporting as requested by internal College constituents based on systematic planning, research, and evaluation processes which are timely, interactive, flexible, relevant, and responsive
  • Compile and submit IPEDS reports
  • Provide data collection support for grants administration
  • Educate the campus community to use informational reporting effectively
  • Maintain access and visibility of Institutional reports via college website and printed materials

Manage college assessment efforts:

  • Develop a plan and manage efforts under the Institutional Effectiveness Policy including the Learning Evidence and Service Evidence committees as part of the Institutional Effectiveness Council and the Student Success Core Team
  • Administer the cycles of the Program Evaluation process to include training, ensuring quantitative data are secured, and documenting outcomes of each cycle
  • Lead the identification, assessment, and analysis of outcomes for Academic Affairs, Student Success, and other administrative areas
  • Provide data and documentation to support regional and programmatic accreditation and accountability
  • Develop, conduct, and analyze institutional survey research as needed for institutional planning and accreditation efforts

Assist and/or lead college initiatives as delegated:

  • Serve as the primary administrator for the enterprise accreditation and assessments platform, e.g., Campus Labs
  • Serve as a Co-Director for the QEP
  • Manage the IRB process for the institution
  • Collaborate with the NCCCS Data leads on state level projects and initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned
