Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution required, preferably in education, social sciences, administration, or related field appropriate to the position.

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Three years’ related experience required in institutional effectiveness, program review, institutional research, accreditation, data analysis and reporting, or closely related area. Experience in planning and assessment required.
  • Knowledge of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accreditation process required.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills required.
  • Good skills with microcomputers applications and database retrieval required.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Generally works in a traditional climate controlled office environment and requires the ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Some walking, standing, and bending required, with the ability to lift and maneuver items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Work environment can be stressful at times in dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlines.
  • In addition to regular office hours, position sometimes requires overtime and/or evening hours.

Preferred Qualifications

Higher education experience preferred.

Position Description

SUMMARY

OPEN UNTIL FILLED - Review of applications will begin 2/23/22

Responsible for leading, guiding, and directing the College’s strategic planning and effectiveness activities, including accreditation, assessment, organizational performance reporting, and research. The position supports the overall institutional planning and research functions of the College and plays a key role in promoting a culture of evidence, inquiry, and broad-based engagement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Lead, guide, and direct the College’s Institutional Effectiveness (IE) and research functions in order to satisfy internal and external data reporting requirements.
  2. Manage internal data and research requests across the College. 
  3. Ensure the accuracy and validity of all externally reported College data. 
  4. Serve an active role in the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accreditation process and programmatic accreditation processes including providing relevant data and reports, serving as a writer or reviewer for compliance narratives, or providing leadership for programmatic or national accreditation efforts, as requested by College leadership. 
  5. Support, organize, and oversee program review for all curriculum programs. 
  6. Coordinate College-wide unit planning efforts and reporting.
  7. Assist with the regular assessment of the College’s program learning outcomes and general education competencies. 
  8. Coordinate, direct, and supervise the activities of assigned staff.
  9. Oversee the Institutional Review Board (IRB) including review of IRB applications, training of IRB members, communication with IRB applicants, and maintenance of federal and local IRB requirements and certifications.
  10. Monitor College progress in meeting key performance measures and indicators established by the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) or the College.
  11. Collaborate with campus stakeholders to promote a culture of data-informed decision making and continuous improvement.
  12. Serve as the College Data Coordinator to ensure required reports are submitted to the System Office in a timely manner.  
  13. Maintain all relevant databases and collaborate with other departments to ascertain needed information for reporting.  
  14. Oversee the distribution, administration, and analyses of college-sponsored surveys.
  15. Maintain and control the departmental budget.
  16. Collaborate with College leadership, faculty, and staff to monitor and assess the College’s performance in accomplishing its Strategic Plan and related Institutional plans such as the Enrollment Management Plan, Facilities Master Plan, and President’s Priorities.  
  17. Collaborate with College leadership to identify data analysis needs and then assist in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data to meet defined needs.
  18. Educate the campus community on comprehending and effectively using data results through ongoing professional development. 
  19. Ensure that Institutional compliance reports are submitted timely and accurately in order to comply with federal, state, contracted services, grants, and according to accrediting organizations’ laws, rules, regulations, and requirements. 
  20. Maintain all relevant databases and collaborate with other departments to ascertain needed information for reporting (e.g., staff information).  
  21. Effectively utilize available report-writing and related data retrieval systems to mine and summarize relevant information for reporting and improvement projects.
  22. Lead, guide, direct, and manage various IE projects designed to foster continuous improvement across the Institution. 
  23. Maintain a high standard of professional and ethical practice in representing the College. Maintain confidentiality of relevant information.  Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the field or discipline with continued adherence to professional accountability.  Provide a high level of service to customers by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and partnerships. 
  24. Accept responsibility for managing situations and problems.  Work cooperatively with team members and colleagues and contributes positively and constructively to the achievement of team and College objectives. 
  25. Adhere to the College’s policies, procedures and other established guidelines. Keep supervisor informed of concerns relating to position. 
  26. Serve on various College committees as required. 
  27. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
